android google

Android is a software stack created for and used by mobile devices. The software stack includes the operating system, key applications and middle-ware. In 2005 it was purchased by Google Inc., which consulted on and aided in its development and release. It maintains its status as one of the world's best-selling Smartphone platforms, as a major alternative to the iPhone. The Android SDK is the component that provides the libraries and tools that are necessary for development of applications that run on devices powered by Android

There are Google Android APIs and add-ons to extend the capabilities of Android SDK that will give the applications within your smart phone access to Google libraries. They allow you to use existing libraries such as Maps and other applications. Maps external library gives you the additional powerful mapping capabilities to your existing Android system.
Google has a whole line of applications that are now available for phones running the Android application. Some of the best and most convenient applications are now available and convenient for use. Quick search box is an application that allows you to search Google and your phone's apps and contacts. It can be activated either through voice prompts or through manual typing. The Gmail Google application allows the user to get their email instantaneously by using the push capability. You can also do a quick search at anytime for any email that you have saved on your account.
Other useful applications available for the Android through Google is Latitude which allows you to see the location of your friends on the map feature. Goggles is a cool application that allows the user to use pictures to search the web. Being an overall operating system, the Android also has the useful applications of Google maps, which allows the user to search for local businesses, drive with directions and get navigational directions so that you are never lost. Everyone's favorite You Tube is also available to keep you entertained with videos to upload to DVD's. Google Voice allows you to listen to your voicemail, call internationally for substantially lower rates than other venues and send free SMS to your contacts. One feature that is only available through the Android system is Buzz, which allows you to see what's going on around you and tags the posts according to your location.
Applications that are common to other smart phones are also available through Google Android. One is Google talk, which allows you to instantly message friends and family. Google Calendar is a calendar which gives you the capability to synch directly with your computer. Google Contacts is another and also synchronizes with your computer. Google finance gives you real-time quotes and news. Google Earth will allow you to explore the world from the convenience of your smart phone. Google Blogger allows you to publish and upload blog posts all from your phone and Google translate which allows you to translate text in more than 50 languages and speech in 15 languages.
Google Android is making your smart phone so much more than just a phone. This system is allowing you to do things on your phone that were once only possible on a computer. It is making the phone indispensable and giving some really amazing capabilities.

iphone at&t

Both the iPhone and the Tilt are AT&T smartphones (at least in the United States), however, the overall main difference between the iPhone and the AT&T Tilt, according, at least, to the way the two devices are being marketed, is that the iPhone is being targeted more towards the consumer-user and the AT&T Tilt towards the business-user. Both smartphones, however, have excellent qualities appealing to both types of users.
Both the AT&T Tilt and the iPhone are touch screen smartphones, though the iPhone touch screen can be controlled by your fingers whereas controlling the AT&T Tilt touch screen requires using the included stylus. Beyond the touch screen, the iPhone has a single multi-purpose navigator button while the AT&T Tilt has several additional buttons.
Unlike the iPhone, the AT&T Tilt sports a unique screen design that allows users to slide out a full QWERTY keyboard from behind the main casing and tilt the display upwards so the user can view and control the phone similarly to the way one would a laptop or PC. The iPhone is a single candy bar unit with no sliding parts, though both the iPhone and the AT&T Tilt can be turned sideways for a widescreen view of the display screen as an alternative to the standard portrait.
The weaknesses of the feature-rich iPhone are in the way of the basic, essential functions of a smartphone - call quality and speed of the data network. Even though the AT&T Tilt uses the same EDGE data network as the iPhone, the Tilt has a wider array of wireless options available, including access to the 3G network, a feature the current generation of iPhone's cannot claim (though a 3G iPhone is reportedly in the works). Also, according to a perusal of online customer feedback, the Tilt also boasts superior call quality over the iPhone. Having said that, however, the iPhone has up to 480 minutes of talk-time whereas the max talk time on the AT&T Tilt is only about half that.
In the way of features, the digital camera on the AT&T Tilt is 3.0 megapixels while the iPhone's is only 2.0 megapixels. The Tilt includes a GPS but the iPhone does not. The call history on the Tilt is more substantial, indicating talk time duration and other details not available in the iPhone's call history. Likewise, the Tilt displays a distinction between calls received and calls made whereas the iPhone does not. The processor on the AT&T Tilt is significantly slower than that of the iPhone, with a much higher tendency to freeze up and necessitate a reboot. The iPhone has a much larger built-in storage capacity (at 4-8 GB) while the AT&T Tilt can only hold 128 MB.
The major sweeping difference between the two devices is that the iPhone runs on Apple's Mac OS X while the AT&T Tilt runs on Windows Mobile 6 Professional, which is tantamount to the difference between any Mac PC or laptop and the equivalent Windows PC or laptop. So the AT&T Tilt offers users, for example, the full Windows Office Mobile suite of programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) while iPhone users benefit from all the innovative software resulting from the newly issued iPhone SDK (software development kit). The bottom line here is that, since most computer-users classify themselves as either Mac-people or Windows-people, the decision as to which device is "better" really boils down to one's personal preference between Mac and Windows.
The AT&T Tilt sells for at least $100 less than the iPhone.

Apple Disappoints Iphone Fans

By now you have heard there was no new iphone 5 announcement yesterday. The BIG news that had rumors flying fell on a sea of disappointment. Instead of a whole new phone, Apple is releasing the iPhone 4S, faster and more powerful than the iPhone 4, but with the same form factor. For those people waiting to buy the new iPhone 5, lets just say the waiting game is not over. There was no announcement yesterday about the release date for the iPhone 5.

The iPhone 4S is an upgrade rather than a new iPhone. As disappointed as you may be, the new iPhone 4S sounds like it will be a big improvement over the current iPhone 4. According to an article by CBSNews, The new iPhone has an improved camera with a higher-resolution sensor. The processor is faster the same A5 chip found in the iPad 2 so the phone will be able to run smoother, more realistic action games. It's also a "world phone," which means that Verizon iPhones will be useable overseas, just as AT&T iPhones already are. In addition, Sprint will now offer the iPhone as one of its feature Smartphones. This will be a major boost for Sprint, who to date has the fastest network, and the only unlimited voice/data plan available.

Apple stock fell by close of day after the announcement or lack thereof. Apple's stock fell $2.10, or 0.6 percent, to close Tuesday at $372.50 after dropping earlier to $354.24. I think that after the dust has settled and the disappointment has abated, the stocks will recuperate. Apple is still one of the strongest companies to invest in, and continue to be so. The stock has risen more than 15 percent this year, at one point hitting an all-time high of $422.86. It has nearly quadrupled since the first iPhone came out in 2007. While it is not just the iPhone that has propelled Apple to the stars, the iPhone is certainly a big component of that success.

So what is different in the iPhone 4S? Aside from the faster process chip, its new capability of being a World Phone, and the improved camera, the iPhone 4S can sync wirelessly to your computer. It comes with Siri voice recognition software, which can understand verbal commands and questions such as Should I take an umbrella today? Siri is actually the best feature of the iPhone 4S. Apple also announced the iCloud service will be up and running on October 12th. With a $25 per year subscription you will be able to access all your music, documents and photos on any device, and iTunes Match will let you sync it to iCloud rather than your computer. The pricing for the new iPhone 4S will be $199 for a 16 gigabyte-version, $299 for 32 GB and $399 for 64 GB.

Get over it. I think once the wave of disappointment over the lack of iPhone 5 is overcome, iPhone fans will be pleased with this new upgrade. For the rest of us, the Android Smartphones suit us just fine. It uses the Google Cloud, which lets you access all of your files (music, photos and documents) from anywhere. The Google voice command works well for making calls and for looking up locations on Google navigation. And best of all, the Google services are free. Apple has yet to embrace the NFC payment technology in its phones, but some of the Android phones have it (although the technology is still in its infancy.) According to a report by Gartner, Android Smartphones have 43 percent of the US market share, while Apples IOS only has 18 percent. Worldwide, Tim Cook, Apples new CEO, told us yesterday that the iPhones only have 5 percent of the world market for cell phones. So why the big fuss over whether the new iPhone is a 4S or the coveted iPhone 5? Its a frame of mind.

Ten of the Best Free Android Arcade Games

All the best free Android Arcade & Action games show off all the improved technology and basically what's possible now and in the future with mobile phone games. Even with a small screen, these games are a lot of fun and it's mainly because the graphics are so good. Even with adequate graphics, if the playability wasn't good, no one would bother downloading these games. Thankfully for all of us, it's there as well and these games are beginning to compete with standalone portable game sets. This is not to say they're at that level yet; but with time and constant improvements on both the Android OS side and the developers getting even better, it will become a more widely discussed topic.
However you look at it, it's amazing what's happened to the mobile phone games market in the last few years. And all of us consumers are the ones who get to benefit. Whether you're a hardcore gamer or not, you need to check out a couple of the very best free Android arcade games. If nothing else, download a few to simply see what they're like and you'll probably have a greater appreciation for your Android phone!
Robo Defense FREE
This is one of the best free Android arcade games that's been around quite a long time. It's constantly improving and there's a reason it's been towards the top of the list for seemingly ever. It's a tower defense game that has all sorts of maps, stats and 11 difficulty levels. There are quite a few upgrades available with this game.
Fruit Ninja Kaka
This is a fun little ninja training game. The goal is to train your ninja to cut fruit and be a "fruit killer". There's a paid version on its way and the overall quality seems to be getting better all the time.
Dante: THE INFERNO game
This is one of my favorites. When you're playing it, you're really into the game and it's like you're actually there. Quite a few levels (over 120!) and there's multiple endings. It's quite a long journey and if you're into the Zelda-like games, you'll be happy with this one.
PapiJump
Probably the plainest, simplest game on this list; it's also the most addictive and just tough to get enough of. This is a jumping game where you move from platform to platform with a smiley face. It might sound stupid to you, but if you download it and start playing, you'll be at it for a while. It's like Doritos; try eating just one.
GameBoid (GBA Emulator)
This is the "famous GameBoy Advance emulator" and new games are being supported all the time. It'll take a bit of time to get it all working no doubt, but when you do, it's pretty awesome. There's a full version that is worth buying if you're looking to use this often.
Flying High
This is a great flying game for your Android phone. You can play the game with two different goals in mind: to go for and complete the stunt course or fly in survival mode and see how long you can go. This is a solid game; could be better and surely will improve over time.
Best Multiplayer Android Games
World War
All the World War Android games are amazing. There are millions of people that play them and rightfully so. You can battle other players live while you're fighting the war. It's intense and if you're into good graphics and solid fighting, this game is for you.
iMobsters
This is one of the free Android arcade games that has quite a few diehard fans. You start your journey up through the mob as a petty thief with the goal of becoming Mafia Don! You accomplish this by bringing others into your mob and doing all sorts of mob activities. The graphics are good and it's got a ton of players- now over 1.5 million people!
Vampires Live
This is an extremely popular multiplayer vampire game with over a million players. You start off as a "lowly vampire and become the most powerful vampire lord" with lots of time. This is another game that could become quite addictive. It's fun and I guess a lot of other people think so as well.
Ninjas Live
Just like the previous 3 games on this list, it's another massive multiplayer online game. You do battle with other ninjas live to advance yourself. It's fun just like the others on this list. If you're into MMORPGs, you'll definitely like this game.
I own one of the Best Andriod Game  sites where you can find information on every Android game and app available for download.
The main goal of the site is to provide everyone an easy way to read about all of the Android apps. Go straight to the      Android acved  section where you'll find additional info on all the free Android arcade games.

Apple iPhone 4 Goes 8GB As iPhone 4S Is Released

Apple look to be following a trend when releasing a new iPhone into the market, as with the previous release of the iPhone 4 when the company then released a new and cheaper 8GB version of their 3GS model they have now done exactly the same with the current iPhone 4.
Consumers can now buy a cheaper version of the iPhone 4 with a cut down 8GB of internal memory which is now being sold alongside the original 16GB and 32GB models as Apple release their new iPhone 4S smart phone to the world.
The new 8GB iPhone 4 looks exactly the same as the others in the range and also packs in the same great features, technology and operating system, the only difference is in the size of the memory and of course the price which will please many who could not afford one of the bigger models.
Surprisingly, the release of the new iPhone 4S has left many consumers with a real problem, as the new 4S also looks exactly the same as the previous model nobody will know from simply looking at the exterior of their phone which model they have invested in.
This actually plays right into the hands of the new iPhone 4 8GB as it is now officially the cheapest in the range and with budgets tight in these tough economic times is already seeing sales volumes soar.
Lined up together, the iPhone 4S and 4 8GB mirror each others exterior looks in both black and white colour schemes, it is not until the user swipes the screens of the phones and they reveal their technology that the differences become obvious.
The new 4S uses the new iOS 5 operating system which gives a completely different look and feel to the user interface whilst being powered by the same dual core A5 processor found in the iPad 2 which makes the 4S twice as fast as the iPhone 4.
Further differences are found in the camera area which has been upgraded from the 5.0 mega pixel sensor of the iPhone 4 to an 8.0 mega pixel lens on the new 4S, there have also been further improvements in the sensor itself which now lets in 70% more light for cleaner, sharper and higher quality imaging.
Other differences between these two models include the new 'Siri' voice software of the 4S model and access to iCloud which can store files and information away from the phone which frees up extra memory.
So, when it comes to choosing between the iPhone 4 8GB and new 4S models they may look the same but they are very different beasts on the inside although price could win the day.

iPhone 4S Deals Too Expensive?

UK mobile phone shops, retailers and networks are slowly releasing their new iPhone 4S deals onto the market after what many consumers are now saying was an Apple launch event that did not quite live up to expectations.
Following rumours across the internet on blogs, forums and industry websites about the launch event held last to release a brand new Apple iPhone 5 its was the iPhone 4S that was showcased and sporting the same housing and looks of the existing iPhone 4 left many disappointed.
Now that iPhone 4S deals are starting to emerge we finally get to see just how much the latest Apple product is going to cost and as with all new releases from the manufacturer this is no cheap deal.
Although SIM free prices have yet to be released by the specialist importers and providers in the UK, Apple have themselves now started to take pre-orders for their new device and with a price tag of £499 for the cheapest 16GB edition rising to £699 for the new 64GB model the iPhone 4S is one expensive piece of kit.
So what do you get for your money and are iPhone 4S deals too expensive?
Well, compared with the previous iPhone 4 16GB the new 4S is twice as fast thanks to the inclusion of the very same A5 dual core chip found in the Apple iPad 2, the camera is reported to be twice as fast as that of the competing HTC Sensation XE although offers the same 8 mega pixel resolution and matches its other big rival; the Samsung Galaxy S2.
All three of these new smart phones offer a fast, dual core processor and 8MP camera but both the Galaxy S2 and Sensation XE are far cheaper to buy.
The new iPhone 4S does offer some new technology which is found under a different guise in the two Android phones is supposedly far superior, this is the voice recognition software which in the Samsung and HTC models is Google Voice and in the new iPhone is called 'Siri'.
The new Apple iPhone also trumps both models with a 64GB model and also includes the new iCloud feature which lets the user store files such as music, video and pictures remotely freeing up even more memory.
As a quick price comparison on the far more popular contract deal rather than as a SIM free device, the cheapest current iPhone 4S deal is on Orange with an independent retailer at just £20 per month, however this package demands an upfront cost of £179.99.
Compare this with the new HTC Sensation XE at the same contract price and the upfront cost drops to £109 whilst the Samsung Galaxy S2 is only £99.
Even a quick comparison against the previous iPhone 4 which has now been released in a new, lower 8GB edition shows us that the new 4S is a very expensive phone as it also retails at £99.
Apple fans will however claim that if you want to own the best then you have to pay for it but for many these prices might just be a bit too steep and instead opt for the iPhone 4 which has now been heavily discounted.

Why Opt for Android Application Development?

With more and more users buying Android-based smart phones all over the world, it's no wonder that professionals adept in Android development are in high demand. In fact, the Android mobile phone market, according to some research data, is growing steadily every month at a remarkable rate of 32 per cent, thanks to the release of new handsets every now and then. The popularity of the MotoBLUR, Motorola Droid, and some HTC models, along with the operating system's open-source nature, is believed to play a key role in the growing enthusiasm for Android application development.
If you are still wondering how Android development can help, here are some of the advantages of an Android platform, which are sure to lure you:
• Sending and/or receiving data across varied mobile networks using Bluetooth, EDGE, GSM, CDMA, Wi-Fi, UMTS and EV-DO technologies
• Google Talk usage for Peer-to-peer (P2P) networking
• Libraries with an extensive range for video, audio and image files
• Data storage made easy with SQLite
• For 3D and 2D graphics, availability of all-inclusive libraries
• IPC (Interprocess communication) message passing
• Features of Touchscreen, Video camera, accelerometer, magnetometer and GPS
• Exporting and signing an app for publishing
From a business perspective, an Android platform can be extremely beneficial. To begin with, you won't need costly tools for Android development or pay steep licensing fees. Your primary costs will usually include your expenditure on these three categories:
• Expertise for development and testing
• Devices for development and testing
• Royalty fees, in case you want to use third party app stores for distribution
With an open source OS, Androids are royalty free and license free, which makes them quite compelling for wireless operators and handset manufacturers. What's more, unlike other mobile platforms, you can distribute Android applications in a variety of ways. To begin with, you can sell them via 3rd party stores. Otherwise, you may also set up an exclusive network through which you can promote the sales of such applications that have been developed. Unlike a monopoly market, the market for Android apps is quite open, which makes it easy to monetize the apps once you have developed them.
The Android platform also allows you easy integration and cross promoted of various applications. This user friendly feature can help a lot when you need to create a network between varied applications.
In case you are raring to go and test the Android platform, which can offer you better opportunities to monetize your business investments, hire an Android development company having adept and experienced Android developers on board. Consider the services on offer along with the professionalism, quality, and technical prowess of these professionals to take your final pick. Remember - you need the right and competent Android development professionals to bring your ideas in effect. So, select the ones that offer the right dose of affordability and quality so that you can help your business grow and take it to the next level. Best of Luck!

Google's Android Phones Challenge Apple iPhone For Smartphone Market Share

At a media forum on Thursday July 8, 2010 at the Allen & Co's Sun Valley conference, Google executives Larry Page and Sergey Brin informed Journalists that Steve Jobs was re-writing Android's history to align with Apple's interests. They argued that contrary to Steve Jobs claims Google had been working on Android long before the iPhone was launched in 2007.
According to Mr. Page: "We had been working on Android for a very long time, with the notion of producing phones that are internet enabled and have good browsers and all that because that did not exist in the market place. I think that the characterization of us as entering after the iPhone was introduced is not really reasonable. " Google co-founder Larry Page opined that that Mr. Jobs claim that Google went into the phone business in order to challenge Apple iPhone was false.
However, a review of smartphone history will show that Google acquired Android in 2005 and began making phone prototypes soon afterward. Informed sources say the model of the Android phones that Mr. Jobs saw at that time looked more like the Blackberry. This suggests that Google's initial idea may not have been to make phones that look like the iPhone.
Now the question most industry watchers are asking is if Google had been working on an Android powered phone why they did wait until September 2008 a year after the iPhone was launched to introduce the G1 phone? In addition, the facts suggest that it was because of tensions over Google's entry into the phone business that may contributed to the exit of Mr. Eric Schmidt from the Apple board. Analysts believe that Google may have been working on an android powered phone before the iPhone was introduced but the iPhone seemed to have given them better insights as to how to perfect their own smartphone. This is especially true given the resemblance of the Nexus one to the iPhone.
A further confirmation of Google's motive for launching the Android phones could be gleaned from comments they made at the Google I/O conference held last May. At the event, Google explained that they introduced Android to consumers so that Apple would not acquire enormous influence that could become draconian.
In addition, the facts seem to suggest that Google went into the phone business following the realization that future of computing would be in portable devices like phones and tablet computers. As a result, they went into the phone business with the goal of dominating web search on that platform just like they had done on the desktop. This notion is supported by Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google in published comments he made in an interview with the UK Guardian newspaper on June 25th 2010. In that interview Mr. Schmidt suggested that he wants Android to be the Windows of Mobile.
Also in that same interview Mr. Schmidt made critical comments about Microsoft Windows and said: "You have to ask how on earth Windows Phone - which will have a paid-for licence - is ever going to attract any handset makers, but it must be loudest for developers considering whether the shrinking, forwards-incompatible pool of Windows Mobile phones is really worth bothering with".
In contrast, Apple appears to have gone into the phone business as a re-positioning strategy and with a goal to make huge revenue from the sale of the smart phone hardware itself. Also with the advent of the smart phones, Apple realized that there was a huge potential in the area of mobile Advertising. This was why they sought to acquire Admob. While Apple was negotiating to buy Admob which is a mobile Advertising company Google quickly stepped in and acquired Admob. As a result Apple went ahead to acquire Quatro wireless which is Admob's biggest competitor. In reaction to Google's acquisition of Admob Apple has re-written the rules of its mobile Advertising platform called the iAd therefore shutting out Admob, which had been acquired by Google.
As the smart phone war rages on Bloomberg, news reports that Apple has sold more than 50 million iPhones since its introduction. According to Apple CEO, Steve Jobs the latest version, iPhone 4 has sold more than 3 million units since its June 24, 2010 debut. Analysts believe iPhones account for nearly 35 percent of Apples $42. 9 billion revenue. Also, the iPhone has over 200, 000 applications with over 5 billion downloads till date.
The rapid growth of applications on Apple's ecosystem could be traced to the initial incentive the company offered to developers. For example at the beginning, in order to encourage Applications that will run on the iPhone, Apple made an indirect investment by virtue of a $100 million venture-capital fund set up by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. Today Apple has paid over one billion dollars to developers since inception.
Apple's success has spurred other players in the smartphone market like HP, LG, RIM, Google, Palm, Nokia, and Microsoft to develop mobile stores where customers with mobile platforms can pay and download applications.
Just like Apple, Google has been, achieving success with its Android powered smartphones as sales have continued to rise dramatically. A confirmation of Android's growth could be gleaned from the positive comments made by Google's Senior VP of Product Management, Jonathan Rosenberg in July 2010. According to Mr. Rosenberg there are 160, 000 Android-based devices being activated daily. He stated that Android search grew by 300 percent in the first half of 2010, with strong growth expected to continue in the second half.
Mr. Rosenberg added that overall revenue jumped by 24 percent year-on-year and profit increased by 19 percent, as well. Informed reports show that as at May 2010, there were 50, 000 Android Apps but today they are over 70, 000 and by the end of the year they should reach 100, 000. In addition, Google has tried to encourage developers of applications for the Android operating system through a contest. Also according to data made available by Andro Lib, Android users have downloaded more than one billion application till date.
Interestingly, another measure of the success of Google Android phone could be seen from positive figures posted by HTC the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer in the second quarter of 2010. The company in July 2010 announced that its net income rose by 33 percent for the second quarter, and total revenue was 58 percent more than last years figures. According to the Wall Street Journal for the second quarter of 2010, HTC made a profit of $268 million.
The rise in the profit of HTC is a reflection of the success of Google because analysts believe that it is Android phones that are driving the company's growth. The wide acceptance HTC's Google Android powered phones like Evo 4G, the Droid Incredible, the Google Nexus One, and T-Mobile-My Touch 3 are helping to position HTC as a leading smartphone manufacturer.
A pointer to the rapid growth of Google's Android could be discerned from the fact that Comscore reported on July 8 2010 that Google's Android platform grew by 44 percent from February to May. According Comscore in the three three-month time frame from December to February, Android had a mean market share of about 9 percent of smartphone's in the United States. However, in the following three-month time frame, from March to May, Android market share grew to about 13 percent.
Remarkably inspite of the increase in Android's market share Comscore report showed that as at July, 2010 that RIM was number one with 41. 7 percent share of U. S. smartphone subscribers, followed by Apple with 24.4 percent share. Microsoft was 3rd with a 13.2 percent share; Google's Android was 4th with 13 percent and Palm was 5th with 4.8 percent market share. Market analysts say a review of the totality of the Market will tend to suggest that Android is growing at a rate that will see it outpace all its competitors.
The Google -Apple face off in the smart phone market is turning out to be like Apple -Microsoft war of the 80's and 90's. In the Apple-Microsoft war of the 90's Microsoft gained competitive advantage over Apple because while Microsoft was forming partnerships with PC vendors, Apple kept its operating system closed for use in only its own computer systems. In that kind of arrangement Microsoft Windows soared in market share while Apple stagnated.
In the present case Google's Android platform is growing rapidly because it is free so many handset manufacturers are showing a preference for it. Also and is available on multiple-carriers like AT&T, Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile. However, the Apple iPhone Os runs only on a single device -the Apple iPhone and on one carrier ATT. Experts believe if this trend continues it that may lead to slow growth for the iPhone in future.
Industry sources say, it may only be fair to make comparisons between Apple iPhone and other smartphones running on Android on an individual basis to determine how well each one stacks up against the iPhone. Experts believe that collectively the smartphones running on Android may eventually have more market share than the Apple iPhone smartphone which is a single device, but individually none of the Android phones would likely outsell the iPhone which is regarded as the fastest selling smart phone in history.
A pointer to what the future of the smartphone market will look like is contained in recent report published by IDC, a Market intelligence company. According to IDC's analysis by 2013 Symbian will be number one mobile OS worldwide, while Android will be the No. 2. IDC predicts that Android may likely achieve the fastest growth of any mobile operating system ever.

Ways to Deal With an iPhone That Has a Broken Glass

If you are an iPhone owner, then you surely love your mobile because it has both impressive looks and features. What if your iPhone slips out of your hand and strikes a wall nearby and the impact is so strong that the glass of your iPhone cracks! Now the big question is what should be done? Yet the chances are that the LCD beneath the glass is still functioning in addition to its touch. Thus, you can continue using your iPhone as its working is as it was before. This idea would not be suited for most of the iPhone lovers because the style of the iPhone is gone and having it would not be fun anymore. There are also many other options. Let's go through them in this article.
If you are looking for the quickest solution to this problem, then just get inside an Apple store and come out with a new iPhone. Although this procedure may seem very simple, it is the costliest of all the ways to deal with the problem. There is another option of giving the iPhone for repair to Apple. This again is a costly option, but cheaper than the previous one. Even this requires that you to go to an Apple Store.
Buying a replacement glass screen is by far the cheapest option of having the problem solved. All you have to do is visit the eBay website and do a search regarding glass screen for iPhone. There you will find a number of companies that sell this product and you need to choose any one of them. While ordering, be sure that you order the glass screen for your iPhone version. Next, open a YouTube video which explains a do-it-yourself procedure of fixing an iPhone screen. This step actually involves a lot of careful electronics work and unless you are very good at it, you may not try it as you may end up having a completely damaged phone.
A simpler and more reliable process would be buying a screen assembly instead of the touchscreen glass alone. You can have this done in two ways which include a kit with LCD and another without LCD. This option is safe because it does not have anything to do with heat gun like in the one where you have to fix the touchscreen glass. As learning by watching is better than learning by reading, again look for how to repair an iPhone screen assembly on YouTube. By following the steps said one by one, you will get your old iPhone back in about 15 minutes only.
One final option, which is also cost effective, is to give your iPhone to a 3rd person for repairing. You can do a search in Craigslist and find a repair person who can help you in your area. In case you do not find a repair person in your city, you can do a Google search regarding iPhone mail repair. Send your damaged iPhone to a company offering the service and get it back completely repaired within a week.

How to Use an iPhone Tracking App to Keep Track of Your Kids

If you're a parent looking for a low cost (but highly effective) way to keep track of your kids, then you should consider an iPhone tracking app.
As you probably are aware, the iPhone is the hottest cell phone on the market today. The latest iPhone 4 sold millions in the first week, further cementing its place as the most sought after cell phone. Since the iPhone is a very popular device, it's obviously the desire of most kids today. This means parents can use this as a tool to monitor and track their kids by installing an iPhone tracking application that will report the location of their children at any time.
The way tracking apps work, is soon after installation, they begin to report GPS coordinates at certain intervals (which usually you can adjust) or they will enable you to "request" the location of the iPhone user. Results are usually sent to an account that you set up at time of purchase. This enables you to then log in using any internet connected device and view the tracking data.
The cool thing is that these tracking apps will show display the GPS location on a map (usually Google Maps), which means you can zoom in, zoom out, get driving direction, and even use Google's Street View option to get a 360 degree view of the area. There is truly no better tracking option out there.
An iPhone-tracking application means no more worrying if your kids are in school or when they don't pick up their phone when you try to call them. With this type of app, you'll always have a way to find out "exactly" where they are at any given time.
One thing to point out is that not all of these apps are created equal. Tracking applications will fall into two categories. The first one being 'visible' and the second one being 'hidden' to the user. What this means that before you purchase an iPhone-tracking app to track your kids, decide if you want them to know you are tracking them, or if you'd rather not tell them. In most cases, the visible tracking apps are sold within the App store, whereas the 'hidden' iPhone tracking apps are sold outside the App store.
The best way to decide if you should purchase a visible or hidden app is to ask yourself how your children will react if you tell them that you have installed an app on their phone to track them in case of an emergency. My guess is that if you make it a condition of having the iPhone, most kids won't care. However, if you feel your older children will not like the though of mom and dad knowing where they go, then definitely go with the hidden tracking applications.
Regardless of your decision, using an iPhone tracking app is the best way to keep track of your kids, and that means more "peace of mind" for you and your spouse.

Five Reasons to Choose an Android Tablet Over an iPad

One of the hottest electronic products this year is clearly the Apple iPad. However these devices clearly lack a lot of desired features (flash, SD card slot, USB port, etc) that Google Android tablets have built in to all there devices. In terms of functionality, features and bang for you buck, an Android tablet is the clear and far away winner.
The top competitor for the Apple iPad right now is any one of a number of Google Android-powered devices manufactured by the likes of Motorola, Samsung, Dell and others. I've done my research and played with a few of the new Android tablets and at this point have decided that an Android tablet is a better choice than the iPad. In fact, there are a number of Android tablets coming out of China that can be had for a mere $100. These devices are every bit as good as the branded models and then some. Here are my top five reasons to choose one of these Android tablets over an iPad:
1. Choice of Size
The Apple iPad is closest in size to a 10×8 picture frame with its dimensions at 9.56 x 7.47 x.5 in. There are no other size options for the iPad, unless you're of the opinion that the iPad is merely a giant iPhone, and in that case the iPhone could count as a smaller version.
Unlike the iPad, the various Android tablets come in a range of sizes. The sizes include 5-inch, 7-inch, 8-inch, and 10-inch. The 5-inch tablets are admittedly just slightly larger than popular touchscreen smartphones, which tend to top out in the 4-inch range. But if they make them, there's obviously some kind of market for them. You can go bigger or smaller than the iPad with an Android.
2. True Multitasking
Apple has avoided true multitasking on the iPad primarily due to battery life and performance concerns, the reason they always leave off features on their new iPhones as well.
There are already some Android tablets running off dual-core processors, which have more than enough power to handle true multitasking. The multitasking panel is also extremely easy to navigate.
Apple should have figured out how to deliver true multitasking.
3. Cameras
Apple made a huge mistake in not including a camera on the iPad. At the very least it should have included and outward facing camera, but if it really wanted to be a winner, it would have also had a second, front-facing camera that users could use for video chatting.
Most Android tablets have inward cameras for video chatting. Google's native camera app also has some nice features that will let you alter your image, without having to download and edit it on your computer.
4. No Syncing Required
Whether you own an iPod, iPhone, or an iPad, you must sync the device with iTunes using a computer to transfer downloads purchased on your computer to the device. It's a royal pain, but it's Apple's way of keeping their users coming back to iTunes. It's also a very slow process.
With the Android Market Web Store, you can buy apps on your computer and send them to your device without syncing. Brilliant!
5. Replaceable Batteries
One of the things that irked me most about the iPhone and the iPad was the battery. It's not removable, and if it goes, you have to get a whole new device. If yours breaks and still happens to be under warranty, Apple will send you a new one - for a fee. For the iPad, if the battery goes, you can send in your old one and they'll send you a new one for $99. Oh, and make sure you synced it before it died because when they send you out the new one it won't have any of your apps or personal information on it. If you forgot to sync, you're S.O.L.
Android devices have their own batteries which are replaceable. If the battery goes, you just buy a new one. Or if you're under warranty, the manufacturer can send you a new one without having to bother with taking your entire tablet.
Other Amazing Features of an Android Tablet
-As mentioned above all Android tablets have flash for video as well as SD Card slots for expandable memory (typically up to 32GB). Most usually have USB ports as well for storage or for external devices.
-Android Marketplace has a huge selection of Apps with 50% of them being free! Most other apps can be purchased for a nominal fee of between $1 - $3.
