Verizon iPhone Facts

  • When is it coming? Current Verizon customers can pre-order the iPhone on Feb. 3rd while everyone else can buy it Feb. 10th.
  • How much will it cost? The 16GB iPhone will cost $199 while the 32GB iPhone will cost $299. Both include a 2 year contract.
  • Can I buy the iPhone for Verizon without a contract? Yes. To be honest we couldn't find any exact pricing for that but I'd assume you could just add $200 to each respective iPhone and we'd be getting close to the retail cost of a Verizon iPhone without a contract.
  • I heard the Verizon iPhone will be on a CDMA network, but what does that mean? The biggest thing die-hard iPhone users will notice is that they will be unable to be on a phone call and use the internet at the same time using the Verizon network.
  • Can the Verizon iPhone be Jailbroken? It's almost a sure thing. The only question is when and how. According to a source a Verizon Jailbreak is already in the works.
  • Can the Verizon iPhone be unlocked? Apparently all CDMA phones are unlocked. It's more of a matter of will another CDMA carrier let you use that device on their network. If you are a sprint customer it seems that chances are no whereas if you are a Cricket customer it may actually be a possibility. Thanks iphonefaq.org!
  • Can I use my AT&T iPhone on the Verizon network now that Verizon will be offering an iPhone? No. AT&T iPhones use a different antenna.
  • Is it possible Verizon won't be the only new carrier to sell the iPhone? Yes, because it appears there is now no exclusive carrier contract in effect in the United States for the iPhone. So as far as we know in the next few months announcements of an Apple iPhone coming to T-Mobile or Sprint is very possible.
  • What is the Verizon iPhone hotspot feature? It will allow Verizon iPhone users to tether / turn their phones into a mobile wifi hotspot. So you could be your own mobile wifi provider for your laptop and other wifi enabled devices. You will be able to do this to up to 5 devices at once. There will be a fee for doing this but such pricing for this or the Verizon iPhone data plan has not been made public yet.
  • Can I pre-order in store? No. Online only!
  • I constantly hear that I should wait before getting this iPhone for Verizon, but why? Because chances are that when the iPhone 5 comes out this year you will regret your current purchase considering you'll be locked in a contract and won't be able to get that nice special upgrade promo price by extending your mobile contract. So if Apple stays on target with releasing new iPhones yearly we should see an iPhone 5 come out this summer and I don't see why they wouldn't release one for Verizon too.

Apple iPhone Reviews

Apple iPhones have been some of the most coveted technological gadgets in the world. There are plenty of great services and usages that can be experienced through the Apple iPhones. The whole series of Apple iPhones have received the highest kind of reviews among every other brand of iPhones in the world. Even though iPhones are being experimented with new facilities and connections, there are immediate developments and researches that have been done through Apple to bring us the most significant iPhone models. Their integrated systems bring value added performances and they have fast taken the world through their phenomenal, record hitting sales.
Some of the classic Apple iPhones have been the 4GB AT & T in the series. The 8GB AT & T is also a great model with its wonderful integrations. The 4GB iPhone has some of the most significant features but have however shown some gaps in its recent reviews. For instance, the network might not be able to give you peak performance everywhere. Quick call delivery and benchmark for integrated alliance have been parts of this. The integrated call phone and MP3 player comes as new openings to this sort of iPhone. There are smart specialties like GSM, digital camera with 4.8 oz megapixels. Overall it is a great phone with only perhaps some minor spells of breaks in its esteemed service.
The 8GB AT & T is a great iPhone that brings high quality integration. There is very little remaining to complain about such a great phone which has its basics outlined and the GSM facility, AT & T along with the 2 megapixel camera makes it a very apt choice for many. This is a great iPhone to be checked out and it is sure not to disappoint you as it has served all across the world with great success.

Reliable Fix for iPhone 4 Proximity Sensors

When the iPhone 4 was released in June of 2010, it wasn't without it's share of glitches. The first reported glitch was with the iPhone 4's wireless 3G antenna. This was suspected to cause poor reception and a high volume of dropped calls. The next reported issue was with the iPhone 4's proximity sensor. Apple addressed this problem on the software level, with the release of iOS 4.1.
Since the iOS 4.1 release, there have been many questions as to whether or not the update resolved the iPhone 4 proximity sensor issue once and for all. From my own experience, I haven't had any complaints since this software update was made public.
Some of you may be  wondering, "What in the world is a proximity sensor is and what function does it serve?" Without getting too involved, every iPhone (including the original iPhone 2G, 3G and 3GS models) have a proximity sensor. This sensor emits an infrared (IR) light that detects the presence of a solid object (such as a head or hand), while you have a call in progress, or while you are listening to a voicemail. When it detects a solid object, it turns your iPhone's LCD panel off. This is a function you'll probably never miss until it's no longer working.
The function of the proximity sensor actually has two distinct advantages. First, you aren't muting your phone, accidentally pushing buttons, or hanging up on your callers with your cheek. The other advantage is that it conserves power consumption and improves your phone's battery life in between charging cycles.
As an Apple Certified Macintosh Technician who makes a living supporting and fixing Apple products, this is an issue that could not be ignored. The reputation of my business hung in the balance of being able to find a reliable and professional solution for this problem. I've done extensive research and testing on this topic and feel like I've made significant headway in resolving this annoying glitch..
In the four years that I've been repairing iPhones, it's only been recently that I've began experiencing the problems that have been widely documented and reported. Since the release of iOS 4.1, I haven't seen any cases in which the iPhone's proximity sensor malfunctioned on a phone that hadn't been modified. When I say "modified" I mean a phone that has undergone a color conversion, or one that the front glass and LCD had been replaced due to the phone being dropped and having the original glass broken. I noticed that the occurrence was more apparent after a color conversions had been performed.
Since the proximity sensor on the iPhone 4 is located on the iPhone's mid-frame and is not a part of the front glass and LCD assembly, I had never questioned the quality of the parts I was purchasing. With that in mind, I began testing every phone prior to repair. I wanted to be sure that the phones were functioning properly, prior to repairs, or color conversions being made. So far, I have yet to find one that wasn't working just fine before the repair. It turns out, the problem was attributed to two factors.
1. The unique sensitivity of each iPhones proximity sensor.
2. The proximity sensor cover on some of the replacement glass is not tinted as dark. This allows too much light to pass through.
I've read over many articles and blogs that suggest using black tape with holes punched out, or a black magic marker to cover the iPhone's proximity sensor.  I didn't feel that either of these fixes offered a professional solution, or one that I would even be proud to employ in my practice.
After speaking with my parts distributor, I found the best solution for this problem is an inexpensive "sensor cover."  This cover is a small piece of film with a coating that looks to be the same red polarized coating on some sunglasses. This small piece of film is installed over the top of the iPhone's proximity sensor.
At the end of the day, it would appear that too much light is getting in and confusing the phone. The proximaity sensor cover  filters excessive light from entering the phone and there by  solves the problem.

Android Application Market - Google Removes 55 Applications

The Android application market is more flexible than the market for other mobile applications. This is mainly because Google is very lenient in comparison to other controllers like Apple and Blackberry. Some of the application developers have taken disadvantage of the liberty given and developed 55 mobile applications that were in face infesting the mobile devices with malware. One of the constituents of these applications was the malware. After the user used to download the application, the malware would get secretly installed in the smart phone device. The confidential information such as the IMEI number of the smart phone would be stolen by the malware. There were complains that these applications used to misuse the security gaps. These applications are alleged to have installed other applications secretly to facilitate installing of any pirated software. The removal of the 55 applications has been applauded by the Android users but it throws light on other aspects as well.
Android became more famous because it's open source and the second reason is Google supporting simultaneously help to gain more publicity and market share compare to iPhone app and blackberry app.
If a developer wants to get the mobile application developed by him/her sold to the smart phone users through the iTunes store or the Blackberry store, the application has to go through a number of tests. It is only when the management of Apple and Blackberry is satisfied with the performance of the application that it is allowed to be sold on their respective online stores. On the other hand the Android being an opens source is very flexible. After submitting the application to the Android store, the developer is sure of the application going public because there are no restrictions and limitations.
Putting controls on the sale of any mobile application is one way good and bad the other way. When there are no controls just like what has happened at Android, the developers go on developing the application. In this case they are sure that once it is made public it is going to get sold. This is not the case with iPhone or Blackberry. The application is made to undergo stringent tests. The personnel at iPhone or Blackberry make sure that the applications sold at their stores perform satisfactorily and are void of bugs or errors. This is to ensure that the application does not interfere with other applications. When the iPhone and Blackberry users download applications from the stores of Apple and Blackberry respectively they need not worry about the mobile device getting crashed or divulgence of any confidential data.
The iTunes and Blackberry stores are so strict that they reserve the right of pulling the application out of the online store without giving any prior notice to the developer. In case of Android the developer does not have to worry about this at all.
Too much of liberty and leniency can harm the Android market so slowly and steadily Android is most probably going to apply some controls the way Apple and Blackberry do.
