The Apple iPhone 4 - Apple Raises The Bar

When the original iPhone was released by Apple, many existing phone manufacturers were dismissive, arguing that Apple had no real knowledge of the mobile market, and was doomed to failure. Instead, it was the manufacturers who were shown to be ignorant of what mobile buyers wanted, and the huge sales of the iPhone have forced many into imitating Apples plain touchscreen style and icon driven user interface.
The Apple iPhone 4 is the best iPhone yet, and also, quite possibly the best Smartphone as well. Apple has radically redesigned the appearance of the iPhone 4, giving it a sharp, industrial style that looks and feels expensive. The standout feature of the Apple iPhone 4 redesign is the new Retina Display, a 960 x 640 IPS LCD screen that provides the clearest, most detailed screen of any current mobile device.
Besides the new display technology, the Apple iPhone 4 also comes with a much-improved 5 Megapixel rear-facing camera with an LED flash, capable of taking digital-camera quality photo's and recording video in HD. There is also a front-facing VGA camera that is intended for use with the Apple iPhone 4's newest feature, FaceTime, a video-calling technology that allows seamless transition from voice to video calling between iPhone 4's over Wi-Fi connections.
Aside from the hardware upgrades, the Apple iPhone 4 comes with the newest version of the iOS operating system, which features support for multi-tasking, improvements to email, folders and a host of other significant changes. Of course, the Apple iPhone 4 has great music and software support via iTunes and all the games and applications you could want. The latest addition is iBooks, where you can purchase and read a wide variety of electronic books. Improvements in processor speed and battery life complete the package.
Other phone makers could be forgiven for feeling a little bit depressed about the iPhone 4. Just when devices from HTC and Samsung were at last beginning to be favourably compared with the iPhone 3GS, Apple has gone and significantly raised the bar. The new design is magnificent, making most alternative smartphones look pretty cheap and old-fashioned in comparison. The new Retina display technology also puts Apple well ahead of the competition, with web browsing and reading small text all significantly improved on the higher-resolution screen.
The biggest innovation could end up being FaceTime however. For now Apples video-calling service is restricted to Wi-Fi due to carriers concerns about high data usage. Even with this restriction, Apples well thought out implementation will attract plenty of users, especially when eventually the service is extended onto other Apple devices such as the Macbook range.

iPhone Vs Android Technology

The days of the standard mobile phones were numbered when Apple first released their own version of the cellular. Though the competitors were introducing something new or the other every year, the entire concept of mobile phones were changed with the advent of the iPhone 2.2.1 that boasted of iTunes. However there was another giant who was waiting behind the wings. It was not long before the search engine giant, Google, also came out with their own cellular phones nicknamed Android.
A huge battle started amongst these 2 giants and 2 distinct groups of users emerged in the world with one siding with Apple and the other with Google. There was no doubt that the Android had features that were far better than that of the iPhone 2.2.1. However, the leadership of the search engine giant was not going to last long with Steve Jobs and his innovative men working hard to release a new version of their mobile phone. It was not long before the iPhone 3.0 was released and this helped push back the advantage to the Apple camp.
Those who are comparing the iPhone vs Andriod will find the following points interesting. These points go to show why the latest version of mobile phones manufactured by Apple is far better than those manufactured by Google. Here are the features that are only found in the iPhone.
• Phone wide search
• Calendar search
• VoIP (Voice over the Internet Protocol) (available to applications)
• Video recording facilities (coming in cupcake)
There is no need for the loyal fans of Google to get upset with the above statistics. There still are various features which are only available with the Android. A list of these features is provided below.
• Peer to Peer Bluetooth connectivity
• Built in notepad
• Parental Controls
• Accessory application support
• Multiple notifications
• Stereo Bluetooth A2DP audio
As things stand now, both these giants are more or less at par with each other but with both of them fighting hard to have the upper hand and rule the mobile world, things are only going to get better for the end user. It is still too early to say which one of these 2 models is better. The fact remains that both these manufacturers have their own loyal base who will not touch the phone of the opposition. There are a few points in with both these phones are not adequate or rely on 3rd party applications and they are as follows:
• Application notifications
• 3G tethering
Which one of them is better, the iphone or the android ?

iPhone Application - Marketing It the Smart Way

Nowadays you will find the numbers of iPhone applications on sale at the iTunes store to be increasing exponentially. Within a year of launching i.e. 2009 the number of iPhone apps was whopping 100,000. The year 2011 has already witnessed this number crossing 300,000. This increment does not seem to stop in the near future. On the contrary this number is increasing exponentially.
If all the applications put on sale at the iTunes were working it would have been wonderful. The irony is that most these apps fail to satisfy the user. There are some applications that after downloading can make the iPhone user repent for downloading that application.
As the number of applications on the iTunes store goes on increasing, the possibility of your iPhone application getting noticed becomes lesser and lesser day after day. If you want your application to generate revenue it becomes important for the application to get noticed. One needs to resort to marketing gimmicks for making the application noticed. Some of the prominent marketing gimmicks are as follows.
Branding
Branding can make a big difference in the marketing of any application. Branding depends directly on how unique is the app. The slogan, logo, and the subject of application have to be so different that they become unforgettable. Many of the applications get ignored just because the logo and slogan are not worth remembering. Once you have come up with a unique and attractive logo, consistency needs to be maintained at mentioning it on every part of the app.
Features of the application
The application should be as simple as possible. One should make the app understandable to the first time visitor of the app too. One should also check if any similar kind of apps exists on the iTunes store. If any similar kind of application is present on the web then what extraordinary feature can you include in your app to make it appealing and tide over the competition?
The application that you develop should be more user friendly than that of your competitors.
Brand awareness
There are different ways of creating brand awareness. In this age of internet some of the prominent ways to communicate with the concerned people include use of social networking sites, emails, advertisements through banners and even chatting. One needs to create a base before launching the application in the market. The other way of publicizing the application is through posting comments on the forums and submission of blogs. People should be enthusiastic about the new features and utility of the application.
The application developer should remember that no application can become popular overnight. The above mentioned strategies yield rich dividends only when you have planned it systematically.

IMDb Trivia iPhone App Review

I'm a big fan of the first IMDb app. Not that me and my trusty iPhone didn't pwn at the water cooler anyway, but the first IMDb iPhone app opened up a whole new territory of mastery. Well, along comes IMDb's trivia application and upon playing my first round of it, did I finally realize how little I knew about movies trivia all along. The pwnage tables are turned when the final score was added up and I scored at 38%. Obviously I need some practice!
IMDb Trivia App Features
You can choose from five categories of trivia, and each trivia subject has five levels: At the time of this article two more packs "TV Favorites" and "Blockbuster Films" were available for $0.99 each. I haven't bought the other packs, but I've played through the free set about a dozen times now and I haven't come across a repeat question yet.
The IMDb Trivia iPhone app has limited advertising: I always try to mention this when it comes to an app because over advertising really can kill iPhone app games in my opinion. This iPhone app game has limited advertising that isn't obtrusive at all. They don't try to force sell you the two additional packs and other than offering more questions, they don't force you to pay money to make the app work the way it "really should."
IMDb iPhone App Highlights
Multitasking Capability: You can easily start and stop anytime
Questions from Several Different Genres: Including Family Movies, Hollywood Hits, TV Favorites, and Blockbuster films with more categories to be released.
Celebrity Photo Match: Match each of five celebrities with their movie, TV show, or character.
Five different levels of difficulty allow you to gradually crank up the difficulty level.
Multitasking capability: You can easily start and stop anytime.
Movie Poster Match: Match each of five posters with a movie or a TV show.
The Catch a Star Game: Click the five actors/actresses that meet the clue before time runs out to earn massive points!
Chronologically Confused: Arrange four different movie titles in the order that they are released.
Who Said That?!: Match the phrase or quote up with the actor or movie it came from.
Mystery celebrity: Guess who the celebrity is in the blurred photo and get points for how quick you get it done.
My one only gripe about this app is that I often find some of the easy questions quite difficult and some of the more difficult categories quite easy. Maybe that's just my scattered and incomplete knowledge of the movie genre but still, I do about the same across many difficulty levels. For a free iPhone app game you can't ask for anything better though. It works great, looks good, teaches you something and puts enough effort into making the trivia fun to stick around with it. I have a feeling that the IMDb Trivia App will be a big trivia app hit for a long time to come.

Microsoft: No more keyboards

Apple iPhone 4S Upgrades the iPhone 4

After a very interesting launch event from Apple the whole world now knows there is to be no iPhone 5 released in 2011 but instead an update to the current iPhone 4 called the 4S.
This new iPhone 4S takes on exactly the same housing and thus dimensions of the current phone but packs in far more technology, features and software to bring it in line with competing handsets from rival manufacturers.
Firstly, the Apple iPhone 4S is to house the A5 dual core processing chip found in the iPad 2, this makes the 4S twice as fast as the iPhone 4 and able to handle multiple requests and applications speedily and smoothly.
The second big improvement comes in the camera department with the new model sporting an 8 mega pixel lens which can snap pictures at super fast speeds, it also supports full 1080p HD video recording and now lets in 70% more light for higher quality pictures.
The camera can now take its first picture in only 1.1 seconds and then it's second in just half a second allowing the user to quickly capture moments as they happen, the sensor also captures 60% more pixels than before for even higher quality photographs.
Moving onto the battery, this has also been improved to produce 8 hours talking over 3G (Facetime), 14 hours over 2G, 40 hours of playing back music and 9 hours of continuous Wi-Fi usage, far more than the current iPhone 4 and good news for heavy users.
Although the main touch screen display size has not changed it does now offer 7 times better graphics (as quoted by Apple at their launch event), and the manufacturer has also improved connectivity by including two 3G antennas which can now generate connection speeds of up to 14.4Mbps.
One of the big talking points of the launch event was surrounding the inclusion of 'Siri' which is the voice search company that Apple bought last year, Siri is a system-wide voice navigational tool and actually interacts with the user.
This new feature allows the user to directly ask the new iPhone 4S questions and Siri will respond incorporating one of the best non-Google search engines; Wolfram Alpha.
Questions demonstrated at Apple's event include "How many days until Christmas?' to which a rather electronic voice from the iPhone 4S replies exactly, others included 'What's the weather like?' and 'Where's the nearest restaurant?' and each time the phone came back with an accurate answer, all pretty impressive!
The biggest stumbling block for the iPhone 4S is that it looks exactly the same as the current iPhone 4, this means other people will not know you own this latest piece of mobile technology and may put some off investing what is a high price tag for something that looks the same.
iPhone 4S deals are to be launched on October 14th and when they do the current iPhone 4 deals are to be discounted as well as a new 8GB edition launch, for further news and latest deals please see our website: Phones Limited.

Best Ringtones for Apple iPhone

Mobile ringtones are defined as musical notes, songs, hymns, dialogues etc that alert the mobile owner to an incoming call, text and multimedia messages etc. iPhone, a product of Apple, is one of the most popular mobile phones in the market at the moment. Although iPhone performs a number of different functions for its owner, some of the most common ones are browsing the internet, listening to music, recording and storing video clips and images and making video calls. Some of iPhone's distinctive features are its touch screen, larger memory, flexibility, ability to multitask, longer battery life, faster access, and smaller size. Moreover, the sleek and chic look of iPhone has made it all the more popular in mobile users around the world. In addition to the various distinctive features of iPhone highlighted above, mobile users have the option of choosing a mobile ringtone that differentiates them from the crowd. Every one wants to have a catchy mobile ringtone that sets them apart from the crowd.
Creating Tones for Your iPhone
A number of websites offer free mobile ring tones for iPhone users. However, a large percentage of the target market (especially the younger generation) does not want popular and common mobile sounds but want to come up with their very own, for example, making a medley of his/her favorite songs. Following are some steps that any iPhone user can follow to make ring tones from your favorite tracks:
The first step to create a ringtone for your iPhone is to open iTunes and search your favorite song(s) from which you want to create your ring tone.
Listen to the track once to ascertain which part you would want to use in the ringtone for your iPhone. In most cases, choruses are a very good and convenient starting point for this purpose. Note the start and the stop time for the audio or video clip, after which you right click the song and get the information regarding the song.
Type the start and stop times in the appropriate text boxes. Choose the option to convert selection to AAC section; iTunes will then create a duplicated version of the song. Right click ringtone, select delete and then select the 'keep files' option. You will find the file in your user folder and it will be in the mp4 format. Don't forget to double click the song before synchronizing it.
