In the beginning when the iPhone just hit the floor, there were no applications available, but as the iPhone started out to gain recognition and fame, the iPhone developers came to the scene and they did somewhat outstanding by presenting their hi-tech wizardry approach in the development of applications for the iPhone.
Why do I Need to Hide Folders in iPhone?
Apple does not offer any default method to secure the data that you keep in iPhone, therefore it is important that you find a custom way to password protect and hide files, folders and other private stuff. This is because without a good iPhone security app, all your private videos, sensitive pictures and other important documents that you keep in your iPhone are very susceptible to get lost or stolen. Reasons For Choosing (Or Not Choosing) An iPhone

This topic seems to be very popular in today's mobile wireless world. "Why should I get an iPhone.... or why should I NOT get an iPhone? The answer doesn't have to be as complicated as many make it out to be. Of course personal preferences play a part... but you can simplify an answer down to some basic considerations.
Beyond these... you're just nitpicking.
For example.......
The reasons why you should choose the iPhone are:
- Ability to check email from anywhere
- Ability to find my way with either the Maps or the Say Where app (great free app - you just speak where you want to go and it maps it out for you so you don't need to type when you're driving)
- Ability to easily find what I'm looking for - even if it's a last minute thing - iWant app is an awesome free app that allows you to find anything from gas stations to cinemas - comes in handy when you're in a new area
- Ability to use the iPod - don't need to carry around a separate piece of technology to listen to music
Basically it comes down to the fact that you now have one piece of equipment that is your Phone, Calendar, Music Player, Maps, Camera (when you actually need one). Being that your iPhone is used for everything.... make sure you keep backups - sure don't want to lose anything.
As far as reasons not to choose the iPhone, it just works until...
... the internal battery dies outside of warranty
... you want to enter more than one APN (commercial data plan, corporate mail server)
... you want to use a music service other than the inbuilt iPod while... well, doing anything else other than using that single service
... you want to do background downloading
... you want to store more than 32GB of stuff on memory cards and swap them
The iPhone is great for consumer grade stuff. Android has been built to do a little more heavy lifting. Plus, the Nexus One is more powerful and cheaper.
If you're in the market for any of the iPhone, Android, or Nexus One.... you can get more details, peruse articles with further discussion, and find resources on where order online (at a discount) at Broadband Nation.

The Future of Android Phones

The age of the Android phone is fast dawning... and most of the applications are freely available, finally some decent ammo to wipe the smug smile on the face of his iFriends. The reason is that several mobile phone manufacturers have adopted the Android operating system on their phones. It is possible not noticed, but the fact is that Google's Android phones are all over the cell phone market. As one of the best phones available with Android, the HTC Hero has made a lot of hype. This entry is made for the price conscious buyer who wants all mobile the perks an Android phone do not pay dollars more. Another option for mobile phones running the Android software is BETouch Acer E400. The company Acer install its own user interface connected to the system and also installed GPS Android, 600 MHz processor and Wi-Fi. A Android phones on the market first is the LG MaxGW620 InTouch. This phone is powererd from Android 2.
It is a business, while Android kicks WIN mobile in the teeth, &, a division of the open mobile advertising if a viable business because it can not expect Google stores Gettig in a search application in all places and from any phone. One of them is the Google marketplace where thousands of applications for mobile running the operating system Android than T-Mobile G1 and the myTouch T-Mobile with Google. I love all the functions of Android, but UMA only tops, especially when I get home, I get off the frequency with which T-Mobile does not penetrate the walls of the building may have.
In addition to technical issues, Google has many areas that prior to any serious threat to address, as a substitute for a weight providing music Android iTunes smartphone battle. However, since the reach of Google Android as a free open-source operating system that reduces the value of acquisitions Palm Goal. I've never used an Android phone, and I have heard bad things about it, like Google uses the data for advertising, but I think it's a step towards a universal platform for open-source smartphone. The idea that Google will experience the same phenomenon in the store request U.S. dollars ridiculous. The iPhone uses a lot of Google applications and search in Google there is no difference in their pursuit of your surfing habits. Their phones are feature-rich applications that are not included in other mobile phones with Android, but also applications, the Android to take mobile phones market.

iPad or Android Tablets: What's the Difference?

Which are best: iPad or Android tablets? What's the difference between them, and which should you choose? We shall first discuss the Android and Apple software platforms in general, and then discuss them in terms of tablet computers, specifically the iPad 2 and the Android Honeycomb operating system used in the Motorola Xoom tablet.
The fundamental difference between the Apple and Android operating systems for tablet computers is that the Apple system is a closed system, specific only to apple devices, while Android is open source. That means that Android is free for developers to use, both in terms of designing apps to run with it, and in the hardware using it as a platform.
Android now belongs to Google, who purchased it form the developers Android Inc. in 2005. Google made it open source, under the Open Handset Alliance (OHA). It is available as part of the Apache free software license. In 2010, it was listed by Canalys as the best-selling software platform for smartphones worldwide.
A Common Platform
That's the background for Android, which is now being used in tablets in competition to Apple's iPad. Because the iPad uses a proprietary software platform, it is by nature more restrictive than Android devices, and therefore does not have the same breadth of communication between devices as Android tablets would theoretically have. However, because Android tablets are in their infancy, this degree of platform commonality has yet to be used to any advantage.
In fact, it is highly likely that individual Android users will be protective of their own devices, and that the full benefits of a common platform are unlikely to be developed. Nevertheless, because of this common platform, it is highly likely in the future that apps and other forms of software will tend to focus on Android rather than Apple. For now, however, there is still a larger choice of apps available for Apple devices than for Android tablets - but this is expected to be only a temporary situation because development of Android apps is now continuous.
iPad 2 Vs Android Tablets
So how does all this translate into the hardware using each of the two operating systems? It is fundamentally now a comparison of the iPad 2 with the top Android tablets. There are several tablets that fail to match iPad let alone iPad 2, but there have been several good tablets developed using Android by top firms such as Acer, Samsung and Motorola, and is the latter that we shall consider here.
The Motorola Zoom Tablet uses the Android Honeycomb OS, and is thicker and heavier than the iPad 2 (0.34 v 0.5 inches). Both have dual-core 1GHz processors, but the Zoom has 1GB RAM against the 512MB believed to be offered by the iPad 2.
One excellent feature of the Xoom is that you can plug it into your PC and access your files. You can transfer files or download from one the other. With the iPad 2 this is a ponderous process that has to be done through iTunes. No need you use iTunes to download music: you can easily download music to the Xoom tablet by drag and drop without requiring a massive ponderous iTunes file to reside on your memory.
Multitasking Comparison
Another advantage of the Android tablet is that it is true multitasking which the iPad is not. The iPad is more a matter of changing between tasks, with a small amount of processing in the background, but not true multitasking. There are many other benefits that the Android tablets can offer over the iPad 2, including more flexibility in file handling, and icon presentation. You are not restricted to Apple formats because you can use any that uses the Android open source software.
However, the iPad does have some advantages in addition to being thinner and lighter, and one of these is the number of available apps as suggested earlier. This is likely because most tablet apps are based on the iPad, and are generally developments of the apps developed for the iPhone. Now, however, an increasing number are being created on the Android platform, and it will not be long before they overtake the iPad apps.
Apple Fan or Android Fan
Ultimately, the choice between the iPad and an Android tablet, exemplified here by the Motorola Xoom, will possibly come down to whether or not you are an Apple fan. Apple fans will likely stick to the Apple product, while there currently appears to be no compelling reason why PC fans should go with the iPad rather than the Xoom - though there are more excellent Android tablets on the market.
The Android software platform has been slowly but gradually eating into the Apple market, and, as more firms offer their own versions of Android tablets, this competition against the iPad 2 will increase. Before long, the tablet market will be very similar to the current situation in the laptop market where we have those that go with the Apple way of doing things and those that prefer Windows. Except it is now Apple Vs Android. Who will win - you will decide that.

PlayBook Now Has New Android Applications

Research in Motions, the manufacturer of BlackBerry, has now declared that its new product, the new PlayBook will be released very soon. This is its appropriate response to the demand of those who are addicted to tablets with the latest technology. A wide array of applications that are designed in Java and especially for Android 2.3 will be running on this tablet.
Most of the application developers and users now want the applications designed through Android because it is an open source and the cost of developing an application in Android is quite low in comparison to other languages used. The Android is being supported by a large community of followers. Considering the immense popularity of the Android 2.3, RIM has added it to the options for applications. The application options for Android 2.3 can be downloaded easily on the operating system of the BlackBerry Tablet. This offers a great versatility to the tablet. This assures the success of the table even before it is launched or released in the market.
RIM has designed and developed the PlayBook tablet to meet the expectations of those tech savvy people that expect the tablet to be highly compatible. Before the official announcement there was speculation and there was an element of doubt that the table would allow the Android application. After the official announcement it is now clear that the PlayBook has been designed to allow the Android applications.
It should be now accepted that the tablet that is compatible with and allows the maximum number of applications is going to be the most successful tablet. If applications for any particular table have to be especially developed, it is going to take some time and highly skilled technocrats may be needed to design and develop those applications. In this age of smart phones and tablets the applications are a means of adding features to the device. If the number of compatible applications is more, the capability and usability of the device is also more. RIM has been quick to realize this trend. RIM also knows that the number of Android applications is quite high. It it (RIM) allows the PlayBook users to run the Android applications the usability of the PlayBook is going to increase manifold. When the usability of any device is high it is sure that is going to be successful in the market.
Android is an open source platform and using the Android applications to enhance the features of PlayBook is an intelligent strategy. RIM knows how popular the Android applications are and also knows how to capitalize on this popularity RIM also knew that if the PlayBook tablet does not allow the running of Android applications it would take a long time to popularize the PlayBook.
It can be said that RIM has found a new and short way to make the PlayBook popular.

Apple iPhone 4 16GB Gains New Best Deal From O2

The original iPhone 4 which has now been superseded by the new iPhone 4S has continued to be discounted in the background whilst the mad rush for the new model has been taking place.
Prices for the iPhone 4 16GB started to drop just a few weeks before the official release of the latest iPhone and the cheapest deal available was offered by the 3 Mobile network which has now been available for over 3 weeks.
This iPhone 4 deal has now been beaten by rival network; O2, who have via a third-party retailer now beaten the overall price of owning this previous model by just £4.01, this may not sound like a massive saving the kudos that goes with offering the cheapest iPhone 4 deal is worth a lot to the supplier.
This new O2 iPhone 4 deal costs £21.50 line rental per month with a 24 month contract agreement, the consumer also needs to part with a £199.99 upfront cost for the handset which means the total price paid over the minimum term contract period equates to £715.99.
So how do these two deals stack up against each other?
This new O2 offer will not suit everyone, there are only 100 minutes of inclusive calls available each month so those that use their phone daily may find that they exceed this cap and end up paying a lot more, the 3 Mobile deal includes 300 minutes of calls which although is still relatively low will suit many more users requirements.
When it comes to text messaging the O2 iPhone 4 deal offers 500 whilst the 3 Mobile package includes ten times this with 5000 inclusive SMS every month, what both of these deals do match each other on is the allocated data volume at 500MB on both tariffs.
So, for the sake of saving just £4.01 over a 24 month period it would still seem that 3 Mobile offers a far better deal for those that use their phone regularly, the inclusive minutes breaks down to 10 minutes of conversation per day, any more usage than this and the consumer should look to pay more line rental for more inclusive minutes.
3 Mobile do offer their popular 'One Plan' package with the iPhone 4 16GB which includes their industry leading 'All You Can Eat' data allowance, this provides unlimited access to the internet along with 2000 minutes of calls and 5000 text messages with the cheapest line rental available at £35 per month.

Five Best Android Apps for Music

One of the best things you can have on your Android phone is a music player. This application enables you to play your favorite songs whenever you need entertainment. As most people love to have their song list handy on their Android phone, numerous applications for music are now available on the market. They compete to present the best features and innovations for consumers. Finding these applications on the Internet is very easy but choosing the best one is sometimes a difficult task to do. What applications are in the top positions these days? Here I have listed some of the best Android apps for music:
1. PowerAMP Music Player
This is one of the superior Android applications for music. With this music player, you can play songs with different audio formats such as mp3, wav, mp4, ogg, ape, wma and tta. Some of the features offered by this powerful player include a ten band graphical equalizer for those audio formats, separate treble and bass adjustments and dynamic queue. To add to your excitement when listening to music, this application comes with something more. Fast folder scan, TagEditor and Scrobbling are other features that you can use. This application offers a trial version for 15 days and if you want to have the full version, you need to download it. The full version of PowerAMP costs around $ 4.99.
2. Winamp
Winamp is still considered as one of the best audio players. You probably used this application on a Windows computer, but now this music player is also available for Android-powered devices. Winamp comes with plentiful features for music enthusiasts such as integrated search, playlist importing, lock-screen player and other useful features. You will also be glad to know that this app is able to sync with your iTunes library. If you're a music lover with hundreds of songs on your Android phone, this is certainly an application you need.
3. Shazam
Sometimes it happens that you hear a song that you like but don't know the artist or title. When this happens to you, Shazam can help you identify the song. Shazam will explore its library to find the song information. This application also enables you to share tagged songs with friends as a social feature. The good news is that you can download this app for free.
4. SoundHound
This app functions almost the same as Shazam; it is able to identify songs and lyrics. You just need to let this app listen to the song and it will inform you about the song title or lyric. SoundHound can even recognize a song if you hum or sing it, even if done badly. A free version is available but it only offers five recognitions each month. If you want to obtain the full version, then you need to pay $ 4.99.
5. Pandora Radio
This is a radio streaming application that is able to offer personalized service. Pandora will learn your preferences to determine your music tastes. To make this app run its tasks, just give it your favorite artists or composer. Then, it will search for music that meets your preference. How To Experience Great Photography With Your Android Phone

Uploading photos to Flickr, Facebook and the rest has never been easier because you don't have to tag along your camera everywhere you go when your phone can turn into a high end camera. You always have your phone with you but not your camera, and that should not deter you from taking photos at any given time or place.
The challenge certainly would be to deliver good photos from a device originally made for chatting. But no worries - with a few tips in hand, you can enhance your photo taking skills and improve their appearance then joyfully share them.
Right, your handset could handle various situations with ease, although it can't take every sight you run into. The little image sensor yearn for light, and does most excellent outdoors, in daylight. To get best results, practice the same recommendation that photographers have maintained for decades: Sunlight should be the prime source to your photography. Let the sun be behind you or above on of your shoulders. Shooting directly looking the sun only drastically underexpose your subject.
Leave the camera's automatic white balance control as it gives great results. However if the colors appear blurred, set the balance to accommodate the ambient light such as daylight, fluorescent or sunset. Remember to reset it to automatic once you are done so that your future photos don't appear weird.
Taking a good snap isn't merely about knowing the right settings, but composing your photos as the pros will ensure that they do not look just like any other photos: by dividing the screen into thirds and pretending there is a tic-tac toe board then placing the subject on one of the lines as opposed to the middle of the screen can make the photo appear professional. A tilted horizon will ruin a nice photo so be sure to keep the camera level and also ensure that nothing is 'cropping out' of the subject's head in the background.
Some android smartphones have shutters that delay after release so know if your model does that. Your android phone may have its shutter release on the touch screen and only when you lift your finger, and not when pressed down will the capture of the shot take place. Whichever way it happens, hold the phone steady and do not jab at the screen as the shake will make the photo blurry.
For enhancing your photos, there are apps for that sole purpose and also try and play around with the camera's adjustment settings to see what suites your taste. For now enjoy your close up, 'click click.'

What Is the Best Android Tablet

All of a sudden we have a new technology that has threatened to take the PC out of the market. I am sure old-school people and the die hard fans of the PC wouldn't agree to it, but the tablet PCs have become the newest best selling technology of 2011. At the end of the 2011 we can only hope that this new piece of technology brings in new surprises, as more and more research and development is done in this area.
When selecting an Android tablet the first thing one needs to do is to decide what is going to be the main feature of the tablet. I know most people would say I want everything, but if budget is a constrained and if you do not want to spend a cool $600 for an Android powered tablet then you need to make some choices.
The Samsung 10.1 is probably the closest thing that you will experience to an iPad on a Android platform. Smart, sleek and a highly captive screen, the Samsung is a great buy for people who are not price conscious and want a great tablet experience. The screen is sharp and the over all sleep design is extremely good to feel when using. It is also a great treat to watch movies on the 10.1 inch screen and plays most formats easily. However the absence of a USB port may be conspicuous for all windows users moving into Android. It has a front 2 MP camera and a rear 3 MP camera.
The next in the list is the Motorola Xoom which has been around for a while being the first tablet that had the Android 3.0 or Honeycomb operating system. It also has a 5 MP front camera and a 2 MP rear camera for taking really sharp images for a tablet standard. It also had 4G support and a 10 hour battery life making it a truly powerful tool to have.
The Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF101 is also a great product because of the detachable dock that allows it to be connected with a keyboard and used like a PC on the go. It has a Nvidia's Tegra 2 dual core CPU, which may not be its USP as a number of the other tablets are also using the same CPU to power their machines. The distinct advantage is the price which is £429 including the keyboard dock.
The next in the line is the A1CS X220 Tablet which comes with 2 USB ports and a MicroSD slot which means it does what the Samsung 10.1 doesn't, which is having a USB port. It has a 1GHz ARM11 processor and comes with 32 expandable storage and 512 MB of internal memory. The A1CS X220 Tablet comes with a 3G support using WI-FI which is less than what the Motorola Xoom does. But at £ 154.49 you do get a lot of features and that is what makes this one a great starting Android tablet.

Expectations and Rumors on the Apple iPhone 5

Another print in the history of mobile technology, Apple iPhone 5 is finally going to be released this October 2011.
Before the release of iPhone 5, news and rumors fly on the comparison and other possibilities that might affect it. The mobile phone seems to face challenges and threats from different manufacturers and creators such as HTC, Samsung, and LG with their own releases. Android and Windows-powered phones are also proving to be a threat. With this and with the introduction of iOS 5, there are high expectations on iPhone 5. iOS 5 is said to have 200 new features, as well as improvements available to users. One can presume that the new Apple iPhone 5 must have unique key features and specifications to win over its competitors.
Pending the much awaited mobile phone, several rumors of its different specifications and features flock numerous websites on the internet. It is definite that the new Apple iPhone 5 should be packed with useful applications and features that will make day-to-day life easier for individuals and even businesses. Another definite is its user-friendly interface that allows users to easily access what they need.
Unless the makers of iPhone 5 officially come out with the details, people can only speculate. Here are a few of these speculations that may or may not be present once the mobile phone comes out:
  • FaceTime - People expect this feature to still be available and may or may not have a few improvements with iOS 5.
  • iCloud - With this innovation, a more convenient way to access all music from all computers and mobile devices is available. There is no need for a number of wires or cords for syncing. iCloud can also store photos, videos, documents, and applications.
  • Dual core processor - By utilizing a dual core processor, it is expected to be faster and more efficient.
  • Voice control - Others anticipate a voice control feature to operate the new Apple iPhone 5.
  • High Definition graphics and media - The mobile phone is anticipated to be able to support high definition graphics and media for better entertainment. There is also a rumor that the mobile phone will come with an HDMi connector.
  • Larger screen - If the mobile phone supports high definition movies, it will be better to have a bigger screen size to enjoy watching better.
  • Camera - A 5 megapixel camera nowadays does not make the cut anymore. It is expected that the iPhone 5 will have an 8 or more megapixel camera for better quality photos and videos.
  • A bigger memory - Because its predecessor, iPhone 4, released only a 16 GB and 32 GB model, people expect the iPhone 5 to have a 64 GB memory option.
  • Better customization - This feature is for personalization of the phone according to the preferences of the user. Notifications settings are also improved with iOS 5.
  • Near Field Communication Technology - Users can now pay using their mobile phone.
Definitely, this is expected to make a mark in mobile technology as it is likewise expected to be better than iPhone 4; but, until the much anticipated release of the Apple iPhone 5, rumors will remain rumors.
You will be able to get an iPhone 5 contract at launch, or keep an eye out for other iPhone 5 deals in the next few weeks.

Free Apple iPhone

Is it really possible to get an Apple iPhone for free? Yes it really is possible and there are websites that are legitimate, but you need to able to follow some simple directions. Getting one for free is not as hard as you might think though and people do it everyday.

5 Great Android Apps for Amazing Video Conferencing

Video conferencing makes our lives easier. Connecting with people from school and business has also been made possible because of video conferencing. In line with this, Android also allows its devices to do just that. In no particular order, here are 5 Great Android apps for Amazing Video conferencing:
1. Qik Video Connect
The Android Qik's interface is different with that of its iOs counterpart. The Android version has four blocks on its screen each representing a certain function with its description. Its functions include Video Chat, Record and Share, Video Mail and Video Gallery. Although the Android version differs with the iOs version in its appearance, both have the same functionality.
Aside from its Video Chat function, another thing which you may find interesting is the Video mail. It's just like the Voice Mail but this time, it uses video. An advantage of the Video Mail is that the quality of the video is better than that of the live video chat since it is pre-recorded. The bad news is that you may not be able to use this service for free after June 1 since they will be charging an annual fee for this service.
With Qik, you can also upload your videos to the web and share them via email and SMS. Although Qik has good features, it may not have the best video chat experience. Right now, however, Qik is one of the best options among Video Conferencing Android apps.
2. Tango
The good thing about Tango is that it allows it users to have a cross-platform video chat. That means you can have a video chat with a friend using an iOs even if you're on Android-very cool indeed! Although Fring has this capability, Tango scores more points when it comes to video quality and ease of use. With Tango, one can also make calls over 3G and 4G networks as well.
Finding your friends using Tango is also made convenient by this app. Tango can search through your Android or iPhone Address book for friends who are on Tango and adds them into the app's contact list. Also, setup of this app is quite easy.
3. Fring
Fring is user-friendly. Its interface is neat and not cluttered. Even a first-time user wouldn't have a problem getting to know the app. Video Quality is good although not as good as FaceTime (iPhone). Its audio still has more room for improvement. The good thing, though, is that it can be downloaded from the Android website for free.
4. Knocking Live Video
Knocking Live Video lets its user share live video from his phone to another one's. This Video-sharing app used to be available only in the iPhone. Now, it's in Android-good news for Android enthusiasts! This is a cross-platform app which means that an Android user can share live videos to a family or friend who's using the iPhone. It's one of the most popular social network apps today and you can download this app for free.
5. Skype
Skype is undeniably one of the best in VoIP apps around. Unfortunately, Android Skype doesn't have video conferencing with the exception of 4G phones. A lot are hopeful though that this service would extend to non-4G phones in the near future.
