A larger battery than iPhone 3GS, lots of screws and key components safely encased in metal coverings are the things that Gizmodo found during their postmortem of the next generation iPhone.

Before returning it to Apple, the Gizmodo team just had to find out what was inside. But they were largely disappointed as the processor of the device was carefully covered with metal casing which could only be opened by permanently damaging it. They also couldn't verify how much RAM was in there for same reason as the processor.

What they found though, was a battery 19% larger than the previous Phone, around 40-50 screws and most importantly, several areas of the phone where Apple is clearly written. Most of the internal components were also significantly smaller in size to accommodate the larger battery.

All this comes after the controversy which has taken the Telecom world by storm. It all began a week ago when a next generation iPhone was found in a niht club. Since then reports had been coming that this was indeed the new iPhone 4G.

Meanwhile Apple had remained mysteriously quite. But even they had to come out with an official letter when the technology blog Gizmodo came up with a detailed review on the next generation iPhone.

Apple eventually asked Gizmodo to return their device officially. This might well be one of those marketing and hype generation tactics just to get the masses involved in the soon to be launched advertising campaign. No matter what the reality was Gizmodo got it's share of limelight during this controversial event.

The latest release of Google Android 2.2 Froyo has added features to meet the needs and requirements of enterprise customers. This is a new level of smart phone that promises to shape out a new work culture for the enterprise customers. Nevertheless, the use of Google Android at workplaces has not been as widespread as that of iPhones or RIM devices. With the introduction of Froyo, this scenario can change.

The use of Google Android Phones still carries a stigma among most of the business user base due to its less reliability as a secure device on an open network. The latest release has however made some significant performance and enterprise specific feature improvements. Although the company refers Froyo as only an upgrade to its previous release, there has been some significant addition to the functionality. Automatic application updates, capability to use it as a Wi-Fi hotspot, improved exchange support are just a few of the features that promise to impact Enterprise users.

Some of the most important additions and improvements that can enhance the smartphone experience of the enterprise customers may include but are not limited to:

• Security enhancement with the introduction of alpha-numeric password protection for unlocking the device. Now Exchange administrators can implement some sort of password policy for the devices that would work across the enterprise.
• The introduction of remote wipe functionality. Exchange administrators can reset the device to its default settings anytime from anywhere, which is a great idea to secure the data of a lost or stolen device.
• Calendar application has been modified to support the Exchange calendars format.
• Ability to set up and sync a particular Exchange account easily with the use of a new auto-discovery functionality. (This function is only accessible with Exchange 2007 and higher.)
• Users can auto-complete a recipient name from directory by using the new Global Address Lists look-up Email application.

In prior releases, you were able to get Calendars to sync if you could get a hold of HTC Sense equipped device. Froyo provides faster updates due to a supportive default OS for Calendar sync. Now Android 2.2 is complete in the sense it has all the three Exchange sync components in it; email, contacts and calendar. It is still however missing another component and that is Task sync.

Device policy management has been a big deal for almost every company. This is the policy which provides security protocols to the IT department for controlling the access of devices to secure networks of the company. Improving the security features of Android 2.2 can make a big difference in the popularity of Froyo among enterprise customers. This is more so because every carrier is now providing one or more releases of Android equipped devices to its customers, which could even make Froyo a Windows Mobile for the new business world.
