My Little Pony for Android

My Little Pony for Android: Basically 'My First RPG'

My Little Pony

I'm the only one here at Android Central who has young daughters, so it came as a bit of a shock that I had to fight off the other guys for first dibs at the My Little Pony game for Android. (Take that, Hildenbrand!)

It doesn't stop there though, as the prominent game developer is headed to Gamescom, in Germany, to show off their next Final Fantasy title for Android, Final Fantasy Dimensions.
While Dimensions will undoubtedly be the main attraction, Square Enix will also show off a number of future Android titles. There will be a couple of matching, strategy based games called Qwirkle and Motley Blocks, KooZac which is described as a mix of Tetris and Sudoku, and their own brain training game known as Mensa Academy will be out for testing. It's fantastic news for Android as a gaming platform, to see big name developers such as Square Enix getting on board.

android games

Car racing games appeal to the adrenaline junkie in all of us. While many classic car race enthusiasts insist that car racing is fun only when you are playing on a big TV screen, countless gamers use their smartphones for gaming purposes. Consequently, the best games have smartphone versions. If you are an Android user who loves car games, you won't regret installing the following games on your mobile:
GT Racing: Motor Academy
This game simulates an entire racing world for you. You enter the game as a novice racer and eventually graduate to the level of a champion racer. The game is very addictive, and there are two things you can do to progress: either play all the games, cross all the levels, understand the gaming world; or you can simply pay some real money and buy your way to the top. People actually spend real money to level up in GT Racing; this says a lot about the popularity of the game.

Fast Five: The Movie
Based on a Hollywood movie, this game offers the best racing action you can imagine. If you like the movies, you will love this game. And in case you don't like your racing interrupted by scenes from the movies, you can skip them and get straight into the heart of the action. You get access to the latest cars, and as you progress through the game, you will face exploding tracks and changing environments! Thankfully, you can rewind the game to avoid nasty corners and aggressive competitors.

Asphalt 6
This game proves that Android games programming has come of age. By fusing together the best elements of different racing games, Asphalt 6 is a car race enthusiast's paradise. It's vibrant graphics simulate a real life experience, and the availability of licensed cars (which can be won only by defeating tough competitors) adds greater value to the game.

Need for Speed Shift
NFS, the classic car racing game, is arguably the best racing game for any platform. NFS has been a part of the gaming world for decades, and its Android version does a tolerably good job of recreating the trademark NFS experience on Android OS. Using all the tricks of Android games development, this car race classic brings the excitement car racing to Android OS.

Drift Mania Championship
Android games development programmers worked with professionals from a drifting association to make this game come alive. No other game simulates drifting as well as Drift Mania Championship. While drifting is a little different from conventional car racing, this game makes it to the list of best car race games for Android OS on the strength of its addicting game play and striking graphics.

Changing The Wallpaper On The Iphone

The explosion of technology over the last 30 years has been nothing short of mind boggling.

With the development of the micro-chip information processing has gone from a great big box in an air-conditioned room tended by a bunch of weirdo's who spoke a strange language called geek, to the situation where one can carry around almost the same processing power on a telephone, or certainly on a device about the same size as a hard cover exercise book.

The geek language still exists but they have interfaced so much with users that just about anyone can learn to transact with computers, design programs and spreadsheets

30 years ago there were no mobile phones and nowadays even in darkest Africa and deep in red china mobile phones are all pervasive. In certain countries it is not unusual to see horse drawn hay wagons pulling a load from the field on top of which sits a guy talking on a mobile phone.

The 'baby boomer' generation, who were born in the 10 years after Word War II can attest to the fact that they have in their lifetime watched groundbreaking technologies launch, make historic impacts and die off.

For example 10" 78 rpm phonograph records were the way people got to hear music. This developed into 12" 33rpm Long Player disks (LPs) a 7"45rpm known as 7singles. Although in 2011 there is a fashion for the retro nuts to try and get turn table and spin LPs no company is pressing them anymore.
Reel to reel tape recorders, cassette tapes and even the 8 track tape players became the rage as they were recordable and could be played in one's car. The recording studio's started releasing pre recorded music on cassettes and they lasted well over 20 years. Some 10 years ago a very fine piece of technology known as the mini disc (MD) came onto the market but failed because of the explosion of a superior technology, the Compact Disk. This technology, fine as it is, is rapidly being replaced in every one's minds by digital music which can be saved on things like the iPod.

As far as video goes the baby boomers have seen Black and white TV being state of the art right through to back lit LED 60" Flat screen with High definition. And that is this week, who knows what advances will be on the table by next. 3D TV without the need for headache inducing glasses is at a stage of advanced development. It is the same with recording of images. We have watched the birth and death of Betamax and the Phillips systems. Very few people have VHS recorders anymore as virtually all recoding has gone solid state.

The sad demise of Steve Jobs has seen the death of a man who drove his company with a passion but who gave us the most successful 'smart' phone of the market, as well as the other products like the iPod and iPad.

With technology developing as fast as it does it is fun to personalize your own iphone with iPhone Wallpaper. There are over 600 free downloadable wallpapers. Ranging from Gaming to Girls, from Astronomy to Architecture, from food to flags. Join the club and follow the latest available on Facebook.

Top Free iPhone Games

The Apple iPhone was a revolutionary device when it was released in June of 2007, and it is still arguably the best phone on the market today. One aspect of the iPhone which is surprising to many people is the robustness of its portable gaming capabilities. With its full multi-touch display, its "accelerometer" which can detect which way the device is being held and moved, and 3D graphics, the iPhone has proven itself to be a major competitor to both Sony and Nintendo in the portable gaming market.
There are tens of thousands of free games in Apple's App Store, but most of them are either really bad, or they are merely "demo" games of a higher priced paid version. However, there are definitely some real gems if you are willing to mine for them. Here are some of the top free iPhone games to help get you started.
1. Tap Tap Revenge II
If you've ever watched someone play Guitar Hero, then you know the basic concept of this game. Instead of a guitar, you "tap" on the screen to the beat of your favorite music. You can rack up a high score by tapping many notes in a row without missing any.
2. Sol Free Solitaire
This is a simple solitaire game like you might find on your Windows PC. Actually, there are many solitaire games like this one on the iPhone, but Sol Free Solitaire stands head and shoulders above the rest. The graphics are clear and crisp, and the cards are extremely responsive to the touch of your finger as you drag them from pile to pile.
3. Real Racing GTi
Real Racing GTi is a full-fledged arcade racing game which several years ago could only be found in a mall arcade or on a home console. The graphics are top-notch and realistic, and the smooth controls lets you feel like you are really in a race car. There are three game modes: quick race, time trial, and cup championship. This is undoubtedly the best arcade racer on the iPhone.
4. Chess with Friends / Words with Friends
These are two games from a company called NewToy. What makes these games unique is that they can be played over any length of time. Chess with Friends is (obviously) a chess game, and Words with Friends is a variant of Scrabble. After you make your move, you can turn the game off and go about your daily business. When your friend has made their move - hours or days later - you can open the game and make your next move. Simple gameplay, elegant graphics, and their inherent social nature have made these games extremely popular.
5. TapDefense
This is a popular game in the "tower defense" game genre. Tower defense games have become popular as simple online games. A swarm of enemies come out of an entrance and head in a line toward an exit which you must defend by constructing a series of towers to defend the exit. Although there are a multitude of games like this in the App Store, TapDefense is unique because it is not only top-notch, but also free.
6. iBowl
This is another social game. If you've ever played bowling on the Nintendo Wii with your friends, then you might be able to imagine what this game is all about. You throw your bowling ball by literally swinging your arm, and the iPhone tracks your arm's movement. Your friend across town (or across the world) can watch your ball roll down the lane, and then they can take their turn. It's a fun and competitive game for people who like to play games without pushing a lot of buttons.

iPhone 4G Vs Android Phones, Review and Comparison

Apple iPhone 4G is currently the hottest topic in town. Inheriting the success of its previous generations, iPhone 4G hits the market with its newly developed operating system - Apple iOS4. Together with Apple A4 1GHz (which is the same CPU that iPad shares) it allows the phone to run nonstop for over 10 hours or even in sleep mood for over a month. Looking as stylish as always, iPhone 4G again features Apple's minimal design, appearing to be so slim & chic. Its 3.5 inch display supports Retina Multi-touch - another new gadget offered by Apple to facilitate daily use. It also comes with a resolution of 640 x 960 pixels and such resolution display will definitely beat all other smart phones down.
HTC would definitely like to beat Apple iPhone 4G with its latest, strongest smartphone HTC EVO 4G. The phone comes with a 4.3 inch screen which is bigger than the iPhones series; yet its TFT capacitive Mulit-touch screen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels only. The phone also supports no internal storage; an 8GB memory card is included though. What makes HTC EVO 4G standing out the most may be its 1.3MP front camera which other smart phones are lacking of. If you need a smartphone with a fair camera, let HTC EVO 4G be your choice.
Motorola Droid was promoted as an "iPhone alternative" in 2009 year end but can its successor Droid X beat iPhone 4G in 2010? Droid X composes of the best hardware currently available. iPhone 4G can support a limited number of multi-tasks, but Droid X can settle a lot more when it comes to multi-tasking. It's the Texas Instruments OMAP 3630 1GHz CPU that allows it to run twice faster than the other smart phones, so that web pages can be loaded in less than 5 seconds. Though Droid X has only 8GB of internal storage, it supports 32GB Micro SD card, which together make a massive storage capacity of 40GB. Powered by Android 2.1 Eclair with the MotoBLUR UI and Swype and will soon get an update to Android 2.2 Froyo. Droid X is surely the ultimate Android phone.
It's no doubt that smart phones are getting increasingly popular. Market growth is remarkable which attracts new players like Samsung to take part in. The Samsung Galaxy S is the flagship Samsung Android device. Supported by Samsung-Intrinsity S5PC110 1GHz CPU, it also has 512MB RAM, 8GB/16GB internal storage plus an additional of 2GB memory card. Apart from these, it supports Bluetooth 3.0 - the most advanced among all other. It has an attractive 4.0 inch AMOLED capacitive touch screen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. Regardless of its big screen, it weight only 119g, which is really light. Galaxy S will definitely attracts followers, a lot of followers.

Compass For Your iPhone

You can now do lots related to travelling with the help of your iPhone all because of the hard work put in by the iPhone developers. Various iPhone applications make use of the compass installed in your iPhone to give you lots of information regarding positioning and directions. Some of the great things that you can do are:
  • Get your exact location - If you're exploring a new neighbourhood and are on the lookout for a friend's apartment, or maybe even a great restaurant to have a sumptuous meal then there are various apps that are available on your iPhone that provide you with detailed information basically utilizing the compass of your phone.
  • Reach a particular destination - you don't need to use paper maps anymore all thanks to the work of iPhone developers who have created apps that give you precise directions to your destination. This too works because of the compass installed on your phone.
  • Locate a place - do you wish to visit a place, if yes then there are various apps that give you complete information of that place namely the proximity, the time taken to reach there from your current location and the best way to get there. So again it's all thanks to the humble compass within your phone that the iPhone developers have got a chance to build these great apps.
How the iPhone compass works
The offshore iPhone developers have put in a lot of effort and researched on this topic, not just to build compasses that deliver the highest accuracy but also compasses that are: compatible with all versions of the iPhone, easy to navigate and also blend in well with your model of the iPhone. The principle that your iPhone compass uses is that of a magnetometer in iOS. In addition to this magnetometer there is an accelerometer present and this acts as your digital compass giving you precise directions provided there are no other strong magnetic fields around you, as the presence of any other magnetic field will alter the effects produced by Earths own magnetic field thereby giving you false information. Therefore in the absence of any external field, your iPhone will detect just the Earth's intrinsic magnetic field, thus giving your device precise directional navigation with respect to that of the geomagnetic North Pole. But as always the geomagnetic and geographical North Pole does very, it's nothing to do with your application but that's the case with the Earth itself, the extend of this depends on your location.
Even though the iPhone development team has done its best in creating compass apps, they haven't met the demand for greater and better compasses in this 3G world. We see that the 3G devices don't come along with an inbuilt compass and therefore plenty of the compass apps are prevented from working. But the 3G devices come along with an arrow that indicates the North; however this can't be compared to a compass for many reasons. However the few apps that are present today are surely great and help you reach your destination with great accuracy.

Advantages Of Rooting Your Android Device

Android is emerging as another popular mobile OS rivaling the more established platforms. Android mobile applications have seen a tremendous burst of android development activity with its ever-increasing scope and range. The functionality of your phone can be extended by rooting it. Let us discuss what is rooting and what are the advantages in doing so.
What is Rooting?
Rooting of an Android device is similar to jail breaking of iPhone. Rooting gains you access as a super-user on the Android platform. Rooting your phone implies taking complete control of your phone by modifying the operating system that originally shipped with it. A program called SU (switch user) when uploaded on the device provides root access to programs. SU manages this by exploiting vulnerability in the operating system code or device drivers. Needless to say, manufacturers do not approve the process of rooting. The advantages of rooting your Android device are enumerated below.
Customized Android OS
Android devices are not bound to its original OS. You can customize the OS to suit your needs. The more popular devices have more customized, after-market OSes. Rooting gives you full control over Android and you can alter system files, use themes, change boot images, delete apps that you do not want. For example, HTC Desire has more than 20 customized OSes that allow among other things saving apps to an SD, adding Arabic support, and removing SenseUI completely.
Backup and restore
Rooting gives you the ability to back-up your entire device image onto an SD card, which can be restored later if required. This allows trying out different OSes on your phone. If you want to try a new ROM (modified, after-market OS), you can back-up your phone, erase it completely, and then flash the new ROM. If you are not satisfied with the new ROM, you can restore your phone to the old image from the backup.
Save Space
Sometimes you may reach the maximum storage limit on your device. To overcome this hitch, you need to enable most applications to become movable to an SD. Tools like CyanogenMod, the popular Android custom ROM, enable the user to transfer most apps to SD even if the Android developers of those apps have not enabled this feature.
Apps Requiring Rooting
Some Android apps specifically require rooting. A tool like ROM Manager requires rooting to flash ROMs from SD card to your phone. Similarly, setCPU is another root-requiring app that helps you to under/overclock the device
Caution
Ensure that you follow the instructions carefully when rooting a branded or locked device. Improper execution may result in a bricked phone - a bricked phone is one where the firmware is damaged or a software error has occurred rendering the device unusable in any capacity. In some instances, the phone can be usable through a ROM flash.
Conclusion
Customized Android ROMs have evolved from being simple tweaks earlier to allow advanced full access controls covering most of Android phones today. Hyper-optimized versions and CPU overclocking can make your phone incredible swift. The best way to get started is to Google for information on rooting your phone by the search string

What Are Iphone Apps, How Do They Work And How Can They Work For Us? Read more: http://www.articlesnatch.com/Article/What-Are-Iphone-Apps--How-Do-They-Work-And-How-Can-They-Work-For-Us-/951587#ixzz1dBv6hiGn Under Creative Commons License: Attribution No Derivatives

An iPhone app is the name given to any application or program that runs on an iPhone. Sometimes these apps already exist in different forms on other hardware and have been tweaked in some way to run on the iPhone, but many times they are designed specifically for Apples mobile device.

In most regards, apps work pretty much like any other program. You can launch them by simply choosing their icon from the list on your phone. Once launched, however, you will begin to see the ways in which iPhone apps separate themselves from many of the programs you may already have on your computer or other smartphone.

Some apps offer the exact functions you would expect and probably already enjoy in other formats. Spreadsheet, typing and email clients are abundant on the iPhone and performance is typically more limited by the size of the screen than by any CPU or RAM limitations. Web surfing and instant messaging can also be handled by the app of your choice and there are many options for both product categories.

Due to the iPhones microphone, tilt sensors and touch screen, there are many apps that offer experiences that simply cannot be matched by any other device. One particular app, called Ocarina, makes brilliant use of the touch and microphone sensor on the iPhone. An ocarina is a flute like instrument that is played by blowing air and covering sound holes. On the iPhone, the sound holes are mimicked on the touch screen, and the microphone is able to sense air being blown at it. The result is a digital representation of an Ocarina that has seen great success in both sales and critical reception. Further illustrating the abilities of the iPhone, the Ocarina app also offers a feature where players can listen in on gameplay sessions from fellow Ocarina owners around the world. This kind of community experience has really changed peoples perceptions of iPhone apps and serves as an example of what the technology is capable of.

Whatever your need may be, there is likely an app that can help you address it. That said, many of the best iPhone apps are merely for entertainment and serve little actual purpose. There exists an app that visually simulates a broken screen on your iPhone. Why anyone would want such an app is questionable, but the value of having the option is very appealing to many iPhone owners. There is also an app that can identify any song playing on the radio simply by holding your iPhone up to a speaker.

If you are so inclined, you could head over to Apples iPhone app store and, within minutes be: giving yourself a breathalyzer test, waving a virtual lighter in the air, reading an e-book, playing a Sudoku puzzle, enjoying a game of Pac-Man, charting the route for your next car trip, purchasing airplane tickets or even watching your family pet through your home surveillance system.

We see that apps can not only make our lives easier, but can make our iPhone experience much richer and our travel through life all the more interesting. There are many thousands of iPhone apps, and more are being created and released every single day. With the only obvious limitation in these apps being the imaginations of the developers, it will take only time to see how apps will continue to shape our world and enhance our digital lifestyle.

Android RPG Games

Mobile phones have gotten fancier over the years. First the developers added cameras, the internet and now most smart phones can now play video games. They're not budget games like Snake or Tetris either. Smart phones are able to play video games that have the same quality that portable gaming devices produce.
One of the most recent smart phones released is Sony's Xperia Play. Xperia Play has been dubbed as the world's first PlayStation certified phone. Not only is it a phone, but it can double as a portable gaming device. The controls are very similar Sony's other products such as the PSP and the PS3 controller just to name a few.
This means you can finally play PlayStation-style video games with the comfort of a real control scheme. There is nothing more uncomfortable than playing games on your phone using the horrible numbered keypad. The most pleasant thing about the Xperia Play is that some PlayStation Classic games will be heading their way onto the system very soon.
Although there have not been any RPG PlayStation games available yet, it's more than likely that Square Enix will release some of its Final Fantasy games onto the platform. Final Fantasy VII, VIII and IX have all been ported to Sony's PlayStation Network. The thought of putting Final Fantasy VII (the most popular RPG ever made) on the Xperia Play could help Sony take a hold of the market dominated mostly by Apple.
Zenonia 2 is an old-school 16-Japanese RPG much like the older Final Fantasy games from the early '90s. The 2D graphics are cute and the game itself is one of the better RPGs available on Android phones. Although the game is heavily inspired by Japanese RPGs, it's actually made in Korea. Nevertheless, I'm sure it's a game RPG fans will love playing.
Gurk is a game that will be liked from gamers who grew up in the '80s. It's an old-school style video game that is only a mere 100KB to download. Despite Gurk's very old style of graphics, it's still in color and a blast to play. There are 24 levels in all and a total of 23 monsters for you to find and kill. Gurk won't be a game liked by modern gamers, but if you grew up playing the original Nintendo game system, you will fall in love with its old-school style of gameplay.
Another RPG game available on Android phones is Dungeon Defenders: First Wave. The game is an online cooperative action-RPG much like Torchlight and Baldur's Gate. The game is free to download for most phones. The graphics are in full 3D and looks stunning for a game that costs nothing to download. Up to four players can play together online. It may be clichéd and borrows elements from most other RPG games, however its visuals and multiplayer is what makes it quite fun.
Whether you own an Xperia Play or not, there are tons of RPG games to explore on Android phones. Quite a few of them are free to download, so there's no excuse for you not to play any of the games here on offer. Let's hope Square Enix brings more Final Fantasy games to the Android market as that will certainly boost the popularity of the genre.
If you're want to play Android RPG games then you have found your perfect place. Spend fun hours while playing Free online RPG games.
