iphone 5 release date

"Historically the only time they've done this was for an iPhone release," reads that email. "So we're looking at the last two weeks of September." "I don't know why AT&T's calling for all hands on deck those weeks, but it's not for an iPhone launch," one source said.
Apple hasn't commented on when it will release a new iPhone model, or what features it will include. For now, the September - and now October - launch reports should be treated as rumors.
The iPhone 5 allegedly entered the final stage of its design phase a couple of months ago, and recently entered production phase. The device will come pre-loaded with iOS 5, and should offer a slew of improvements, such as a vastly improved notifications system, Twitter integration, better Safari and Mail apps, the new iMessage service, iCloud integration, improved multitasking, and better overall responsiveness.
According to an apparent leak from a Best Buy employee, the retailer is going to install some Apple-related fixtures at 6am in the morning of October 21. Earlier rumors mentioned that the next iPhone would launch on October 9 in New Zealand, so take all of this with a grain of salt, but historically, Apple has launched new products in that timeframe.
We have a tip given to 9to5Mac, which shows that Apple has begun to train retail store employees about iCloud and iOS 5. In general, Apple releases its new version of iOS around the same time as its next-generation iPhone. So, the thinking goes, if Apple is training employees on iOS 5, then iPhone 5 is right around the corner. Also, we have news from Bloomberg that German wireless giant Deutsche Telekom has already begun taking pre-orders for the iPhone 5, even though the company has no (public) knowledge of what the handset will be. Customers who "expressly request the successor model to the iPhone 4″ will be given a coupon for the upcoming - but still unconfirmed - device.
iPhone 5 manufacturing has begun in Asia amid burning questions regarding the makeup of the long sought next generation Apple smartphone. The new iPhone's screen size, after remaining intact for four years, faces scrutiny. The rise of 4G LTE networks has Apple facing pressure from partners including AT&T and Verizon. The iPhone's trademark curves, which all but exited in the fourth generation iPhone era in favor of a boxy iPhone 4, are in demand for a return engagement from a number of users.
Screen: The 3.5 inch screen found on the first four iPhones has sharply increased in pixel density and quality over the years, but its physical dimensions have remained the same. This comes as competing Android based phones offer screens which are as large as four inches but offer lower quality resolution.
LTE: Verizon and AT&T have bet their near term futures on the rise of 4G LTE networks, which Verizon is still getting around to building and AT&T is still getting around to imagining. Apple's argument against employing LTE in the iPhone 4 is that almost no one would have been able to use it anyway. A year-plus later, a higher percentage of customers live in areas in which a 4G LTE signal is available, placing Apple on the spot when it comes to including it in the iPhone 5 or not.
Curvaceousness: When the iPhone 4 prototype leaked out early last year, many dismissed it as being an obvious fake because it was "too ugly" to be an Apple product. That was a bad sign for the product, whose boxy design suggested Apple was attempting to court the kind of tech geeks who had their other eye focused on competing Android phones. A year later, the geeks have fled for Android, while the mainstream has increasingly made it clear that they want an iPhone (they just want it to come to their preferred carrier).

Here are the reasons why iPhone 5 will be the best selling smartphone:
Marketing: Marketing is very important in building customer relationships as well as creating product awareness. This is one of Apple's many strongholds. The company, as soon as it announces about the launch of a new device, it takes to the airwaves describing the device and showcasing the finer points. As the customers get excited, the product becomes an instant hit. The iPhone 5 will enjoy the same advantage.
Device Specifications: iPhone 4, previously, enjoyed immense popularity among customers although there were other smartphones in the market which came up with better specifications showing better processor, RAM and battery than iPhone 4. The rumors that are circling the iPhone 5 suggest a 1.2 GHz dual core processor, an 8 MP dual-LED rear camera, a possible 1 GB RAM (Apple is known to upgrade its device's RAM with every release) and improved battery life.
Brand Name: Apple has considerably become a brand which creates trust and an emotional attachment. This attachment then causes the consumers to decide about the product. Lately, Apple has also become the world's most valuable brand according to a study published by global research agency Millward Brown.
Operating System: Lately, iOS 5.0 and its features were announced on June 6 at the WWDC 2011 keynote address. The new operating system comes with iCloud service and the Notification Center, as well as improvements to native apps such as Camera. Moreover, the new operating system has more than 200 new features. In fact, the operating system of Apple is a mobile operating system that was already years ahead of anything else before Android could even make its move.
Design: When it comes to the iPhone, Apple has always updated the design of their smartphone each year. Designers Michal Bonikowski and Antoine Brieux have played it safe with the design of the new iPhone. iPhone 4 and Apple's original iPad looks very similar in terms of design.

Apple's New iPhone Information

With Apple's major success with their iPod, the most popular form of MP3 player, they were sure to expand and come out with their own version of a cell phone. Apple has dominated the industry of MP3 players and has managed to sell millions of iPods all over the world, along with millions of songs through their own online music store.
The cell phone industry has evolved and so has the technology. Nearly every single cell phone comes equipped with a screen that plays video, and a camera. Apple's newer versions of the iPod have screen that have the ability to play videos. Now Apple has taken their popular and advanced technologies to the next level with the iPhone, combining the functions of a cell phone, Internet communication device, as well as a "wide screen" iPod with easy to use touch controls.

Apple made their iPhone exclusive to AT&T and Cingular, which means these phone companies are the only two who can offer you service for your iPhone. The Apple iPhone is supposed to be released sometime in June. It will be interesting to see the other companies and manufacturers scramble to make their own version of the iPhone.
The Apple iPhone will run on the most recent MAC operating system for its Internet and video functions. It also comes equipped with a 2 megapixel camera and has the ability to run Google maps, conference calling, text, and multimedia messaging. These are all must have functions for anyone on the go these days, especially the younger generation. The iPhone will also have Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, as well as Email software and a browser.
The new iPhone will have a combination of the latest, most popular technologies. In fact it doesn't have a keypad at all, except for a "home" button. The controls are operated on a 3.5 inch square touch screen. Many pre-release reviews of the iPhone are positive and say that the photo and video quality is amazing. There is basically one giant touch screen that you use to control the phone, the picture component, and the videos. You will never have to use a stylus again! When you want to send a text message to someone you can use the onscreen keyboard which is also controlled by touch.
Apple will be offering a 4GB version of the iPhone for the price of $499 with a two year contract. If you want to double your space then you can go with the 8GB version of the iPhone for the low price of $599, only $100 more than the 4GB. To some these may seem like expensive phones, but when you really think about it iPod's run you about $300. Then you add on the costs of a cell phone. Apple can charge this because there are going to be many dedicated Apple fans that will have no problem spending that much money on an Apple iPhone.

android features vs iphone

Apple's iPhone and Google's Android 2.2 Froyo are getting ready for another epic battle. On the first look of it the Android performs faster that iPhone except when the former is enabled for Flash 10.1 plugin. Latest devices from respective titans in the world of smart phones, they can both give unforgettable experiences to the user.
Google, Verizon, and Adobe announced their next wave Android based Motorola Droid device on June 23rd. A day later Apple and AT&T launched iPhone 4. Both appeared almost simultaneously in American and European markets.
Market statistics reveal that Apple has already sold by July, 2010 over 600,000 iPhone 4. However, they suffer from serious ordering problems in United States. On the other hand the one launched by Google and others is a significant upgrading of the popular brand of Motorola, the Android. The battle for the smart phone crown is now virtually on.
New iPhone 4 boasts of some impressive items like the front facing camera, high definition 720p recording of videos, 5 megapixel rear facing cameras, three axis gyroscopes, 960x640 resolution and LED display of 3.5 inches. Above all it has much longer battery life than its predecessors.

Android 2.2 Froyo on the other hand has Droid X technology. It features 4.3 inch display, equal video recording capabilities as iPhone 4, HDMI output and screen resolution of 854x480. Eight megapixel cameras with flash and various other advanced features mark the excellence of the device. It also has the capability of using the Flash Player 10.1 used for the mobile devices.
While both the devices look very impressive, android suffers from one drawback that keeps iPhone 4 a step ahead, is the absence of front facing camera. On the other hand the feature of HTC's Android based EVO 4G keeps it a step ahead of iPhone 4. That means with pros and cons balanced, one is back to square one in determining which one is better; android or iPhone.
Some of the features of Android 2.2 Froyo are new home screen widget tips; and it also has dedicated shortcuts. Improved security, numeric pin, alpha-numeric options for unlocking, remote wipe, exchange calendars, auto discovery, exchange account, global address lists, gallery, camera onscreen buttons, and LED flash enabled for Camcorder. Multi lingual uses can add several languages with auto suggest dictionary feature. Kernel memory management booster improves the memory by 20x.
Apple brings up new nice hardware most of the times. On the other hand a new Android device makes its appearance in the market every time. Apple has lagged behind in keeping pace with Androids in terms of multiplicity of devices.
When it comes to sales as well as market penetration, it seems presently iPhone4 is way ahead. Apple occupies about 28% of the mobile phone market in United States. In contrast the Androids including Android 2.2 Foryo occupy only 9% of the market. Both have grown by around 2% over the years and also by that rate during the first quarters of 2010.
Thus iPhone still has much larger share of the market but Android is coming up very strong and is likely to give them a run for their money in near future.

iphone vs android & video

While there are many companies vying for smartphone supremacy, at the moment the two titans going to head for dominance of the consumer smartphone arena. With apologies to Blackberry, Windows Phone 7, and Palm OS, Google Android and Apple iOS are the two best mobile operating systems right now.
Now that Verizon is officially getting the iPhone, there have been a lot more questions on my blog about which phone is better, the iPhone or the high end Android phones.
That's a little more difficult question to answer as they both have distinct advantages so I thought I'd put together this article to address some of the advantages and disadvantages offered by each mobile operating system.
Choices - Advantage Android
If you're looking for a lot of different choices, then it's Android all the way. With the iPhone, you have two choices, this year's model and last year's model. Every year Apple releases one new phone. It seems like there is a new Android phone coming out every few days - there are over 100 Android powered phones and that number is continuing to grow. Android can be found in low cost phones that are free with two year contract and $250 with two year contract. You can get a variety of screen sizes and pick any carrier you want.

Apps - Advantage iPhone
If you want the biggest selection of apps, then the Apple App Store has the advantage by about 200,000 apps. The Android Market isn't a slouch by any means, as it does have over 100,000 apps, it just has less. Most developers develop for the Apple App Store first because people are more accustomed to paying for apps on the iPhone than they are on Android. The biggest difference is in games - quite simply, there are far better games available for the iPhone than on Android at the moment.
Cell Phone Carrier - Advantage Android
Now that the iPhone is available on two carriers in the U.S. you're not stuck with AT&T which is a good thing for many people as AT&T has had more than its share of network problems over the years with the iPhone. However, the iPhone still isn't available for Sprint or TMobile which both offer lowest cost plans than Verizon and AT&T so the advantage here goes to Android.
Adobe Flash (i.e. Most Videos) - Advantage Android
When it comes to watching videos on your iPhone, you can watch some and many Youtube videos. However, plenty of videos are found elsewhere and they all use Adobe Flash. Also, many online games use Flash as well so if you enjoy playing them, you'll probably have some difficultly. Android Phones (that have Android 2.2 or later) support Flash which means you can access all these videos and games using your phone. There is a workaround app on the iPhone called Skyfire than will work for some of these cases, but it's not nearly as nice as the phone being able to support it and it certainly doesn't "just work" as Apple has tried to make their devices do.
Ease Of Use - Advantage iPhone
You probably don't want to get a degree in engineering to use your phone. While Android is relatively easy to use, it's still not nearly as intuitive as the iPhone. The iPhone has a simple elegance to it. Android powered smartphones tend to appeal more to the tech savvy crowd. Again, this is a matter of preference. Just like with computers, some people like Windows and some people like Mac OS. Go to the store and play with both for a little bit and see which one appeals to you more but if you hate computers and barely know how to turn one on, stick with the iPhone as it is simpler.
Conclusion - Up To You
While I could make a case that either is better, ultimately it is going to depend on what you want. Me personally, I like my Android phone but I've played with plenty of iPhones and have found them fun and easy to use too. Get whichever one you like best.

android vs iphone sales

In October we saw the launch of the eagerly awaited iPhone 4S. This new dual core handset offers users a host of great features including the impressive Siri voice recognition system. We take a look at how sales of this model have compared against Android, the current market leader.

Apple increased their market share in the UK in October to 27.9% thanks to the launch of this exciting new model. In that month alone Apple handsets accounted for 42.8% of UK sales for all mobile platforms. This figure eclipses the 35% share achieved by Android, the current market leader and nearest rivals to the Apple brand. Data research company Kantar Worldpanel Comtech released the figures which also illustrate that a massive 44.8% of the UK public currently own a smartphone. Dominic Summeno, a spokesperson for the company commented "The October launch of the hugely anticipated iPhone 4S has catapulted Apple into second place among operating systems based on the last 12 weeks of sales. However, if you just look at the month of October, Apple took a whopping 42.8% share of all smartphone sales, giving it a significant lead over Android". Another figure that has emerged is that of all of the new iPhone 4S purchases 75% were by people who had previously owned an iPhone. This illustrates that the company have established tremendous brand loyalty and this bodes well for future handset releases such as the anticipated iPhone 5 in 2012.
Although October was a huge month for Apple and the iPhone 4S we can expect November to be a much more balanced month with several manufacturers choosing to release key Android handsets in this period. Samsung look likely to achieve great success with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. The previous flagship model released by the company, the Galaxy S2, proved an international success and quickly became the best selling handset of 2011. The improved specification of the Galaxy Nexus should see this model quickly become one of the leading phones available. HTC have also impressed with their efforts over the past month. With the Sensation XL and XE models the company have not only developed two superb smartphones but also ones which offer audio facilities that surpass all of their rivals thanks to the incorporation of Beats Audio technology. With a huge proportion of the UK public using their phone as a portable audio player we can also expect these two models to be challenging the market leaders.
The iPhone 4S has been a massive success since its release. The UK figures for October surpass what industry experts predicted but we should see Android fight back over the next two months thanks to the excellent releases from Samsung and HTC.
The iPhone 4S and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus are available now

android phones vs iphone

Mobile phones are ingrained in today's culture. Almost everyone owns one, and most own a smart phone. Until recently, the only viable smart phone choice was the iPhone by Apple. But now, the ever popular iPhone finally has some competition in the mobile market. Gone are the days where Apple held the majority share of smart phone customers.
More and more people are discovering the superior benefits of the android platform based mobiles. And since mobile plans for smart phones are the same price regardless of the brand of phone, why not get more phone for the money?
iPhone is limited in that the phone does not allow the user to utilise an SD memory card. This means that the only memory available is the phone memory, so when it is full users will have to delete applications or photos. The iPhones are sold with three different choices in memory, 8 GB, 16GB and 32GB.

The more memory the phone has the more the cost of the phone. Android phones allow the user to utilise memory cards to save room on the actual phone memory. The Android phones firmware can also be updated, while the iPhone provides a closed firmware option.
Androids can be customized in almost any way imaginable. Everything from ringtones, wallpapers, themes and even the user interface can be customized on the android mobile phones.
Androids also offer a choice between different Android models. Carriers will offer users a choice of different Androids from different makers. The iPhone comes in one style and by one manufacturer. The iPhone is not nearly as customisable; changing ringtones and wallpaper are about the only options for users to personalise their phones.
Overall, Android phones allow the user to let their phone express their personality. Users can choose from a variety of phones instead of being forced to accept only one style. Android mobiles also allow for a wider array of customisation options than the iPhone. Today's choice in mobiles ensures that users do not have to settle on a phone they do not love.Overall, Android phones allow the user to let their phone express their personality. google android vs iphone

In the argument between Android handsets and iPhones, the conversation tends to lean more towards the fact of open source vs. closed source operating systems and phones. This is not about developer's choice so much as those who are the end users, even though many of them do not realize it.
Open source basically means the code is available to all. This benefits the users by providing programmers the chance to write software for the smart without having to learn a new language or fit into tightly regimented rules. A good example of this is the fact that Google Android's app store is completely customer organized, with users rating apps as they try them, which then feeds lists of the most popular apps, what's considered hot, new additions and other ways to search. Apple, on the other hand, gets over 10,000 submissions a week and strongly vets their app store to make sure only the most suitable, helpful and entertaining submissions make it. This changes the experience of users completely, and while Apple might be able to boast consistently high quality apps, Android users will see a more diverse spread on offer.
Many people unaware of the specifics of either smartphone operating system might think that the right choice is to go with an open source system, but Android does have some limitations that are similar to the ones synonymous with the iPhone. The calendar cannot be used on an Android phone without a Google account, and Gmail and the mail client are two separate entities. iPhones are known to have no Flash support and yet some Android phones have problems showing PDF files.

The fact is that Android isn't completely innocent of trying to push consumers into a Google shaped pen. It is almost like the media giant is hiding behind the open source halo and wondering how long it can ride on the Google name before someone finds out the truth. There has been a whole string of successes with HTC and the Android operating system before, and it seems to have boosted the public's opinion of the operating system to where it can do no wrong.
The iPhone might be guilty of locking users into a lot of decisions they didn't really want to make, but Google Android is maybe more guilty for trying to hide their guilt from their consumers under an open source system that is meant to promote freedom. At this point the market is still anyone's game.

android versus iphone 4

DROID Incredible Compared with iPhone 4
With the iPhone 4 now being officially released, the real question on everyone's mind is, "How is it going to stack up against the currently superior DROID Incredible?" Well, we finally have that answer, and it looks like Apple has done it again. The new iPhone 4 packs quite a punch especially considering many of it's features are not only comparably better than that of the DROID Incredible but also outside the realm of possibilities for the DROID Incredible due to Apple's proprietary software and hardware. This isn't to say that the iPhone 4 is better in every aspect however, there are many features that the DROID Incredible still offers that the iPhone simply can't match. Even so, it's been a hard fought battle up to this point for about the past year with regards to market share, but with this new release I see nothing short of a landslide victory in the coming months. The real competition that the iPhone 4 will now face is the HTC EVO.
A couple of reasons the DROID incredible has seen such a large gain in market share during this period is due to two reasons. One, the enormous marketing push to show how and why the DROID Incredible was better than the iPhone 3GS, plus the DROID Incredible's ability to multi task. Now that Apple's OS 4 operating system that comes with the iPhone 4 allows multi tasking though, the DROID Incredible may not be so "credible" at all. One of the biggest differences between the two platforms is the number of apps available for each. The iPhone 4 comes with the Apple Store's 215,000 plus apps, while DROID's Incredible can only boast around 70,000. A lot of times, this and this alone is the reason that many buyers choose Apple's phone products versus the DROID's. Since you are taking the time to read this however, I will assume you want a little more info on both to help you make your decision and that is why we put together a thorough comparison of both platforms main selling points and features. Hope you find it useful!
Cosmetics
Apple is of course known for their sleek designs and the iPhone 4 isn't going to be the exception. The new phone comes with a stainless steel band that couples as the iPhone 4 antenna is engineered to be 4 times stronger than steel and allows for the extra thin and rigid design. In addition to the stainless steel band, both the front and back are made with engineered aluminosilcate glass (the same stuff used in high speed trains and helicopters). The glass is designed to be 20 times stiffer and 30 times stronger than plastic. Also it's extremely durable. In comparison, the DROID Incredible... well... it's plastic. No comparison needed here, the iPhone has much more curb appeal.
Size and Weight (Dimensions)
The new iPhone 4 weighs in at 4.8 ounces (137 grams) and measures 4.5 inches (H) by 2.31 inches (W) by 0.37 inches (D). The DROID Incredible comparably weighs in 4.59 inches (130 grams) and measures 4.63 inches (H) by 2.3 inches (W) by 0.47 inches (D). As you can see the differences here aren't that astonishing. The iPhone 4 dimensions differs slightly in weight and the depth is considerably thinner than that of the DROID incredible. This is as a result of many of the internal factors that Apple painstakingly designed in to fit perfectly in their new glass metallic casing. However, for most consumers, this really won't be a factor when considering which device to purchase.
Networks--Cellular/Wireless
Verizon and Alltel use the Dual Band CDMA 2000 system they offer for the DROID Incredible. AT&T will continue its affiliation with the iPhone 4 as expected, operating their GSM/EDGE network. For more detailed differences please review the article on our website comparing AT&T's network to Verizon's.
As for wireless capabilities both the iPhone 4 and DROID Incredible offer 802.11 b/g/n. Additionally each also offer Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and I believe the new iPhone 4 is going to offer wireless tethering via the OS 4 release which will allow for automatic syncing much like the MacBook's and other current Apple devices.
The current cellular carrier, AT&T probably accounts for the majority of all complaints with the current iPhone 3GS. Some may find this to be a huge factor in which phone they choose, and AT&T and Apple both know this and thus have made promises to make their network much stronger. This would help to resolve the current issues of dropping calls and spotty 3G coverage that users complain of so often. Even though they may have "promised" to do so, they seem to be dropping the ball on it as those changes have yet to be noticed by the majority of iPhone users. So keep in mind that at this point, if you go with the iPhone 4, your probably going to have some of the same encounters with network problems that everyone else is having right now.
Services Location Based
The iPhone 3GS previously offered maps and directions via Google Maps through a proprietary app, but with the release of the iPhone 4 they will now have assisted GPS and also their all important standard "digital compass," which, in my opinion is probably the most useless item on the entire phone. Also, as before the location services will be performed via wi-fi and cellular triangulation services. As for the DROID Incredible, they will be offering Google Maps with Navigation, which has been offered on the previous DROID versions as well. There is not a huge difference here either but it would appear that the Android compatible DROID Incredible may have slightly better offerings as it is coupled directly with Googles navigation services and their support will be a decisive advantage for not only the DROID Incredible but all phones taking advantage of the Android OS.
Power and Battery
The iPhone 4 carries with it the power of a lithium ion battery which is rechargeable via a USB connection with a computer or by plugging it into a wall with a standard power adapter. DROID's Incredible can do the same thing and comes with rechargeable lithium ion battery too. The battery for the DROID can be taken out though which allows you the ability to replace it with another battery if the one your using goes dead. Who really cares though unless your going out of town somewhere like camping or something and don't have any outlets for power around anywhere and no car charger. If this is the case, you probably won't need to charge it anyway because you may just not want to deal with it for a few days.

Being the second phone to come to market has given the iPhone 4 a chance to step up its game a little in the battery department however in regards to talk, standby, and usage times. This new smartphone can give you a seriously nasty 7 hours of total talk time if your using 3G, 14 hours if using 2G, and when your on standby, you can get in the 300 hour range! Plus when it comes to internet use, surf around as much as you like for about 6 hours if using 3G and about 10 if using your Wi-fi connection. Plus if you love videos and music like some do, the iPhone 4 will offer about 10 hours of video play and when listening to your favorite music you will be able to chill for like 40 hours.
In comparison, the DROID Incredible offers around 312 minutes of usage time with 146 hours of standby via their provided specs on Verizon.com. Not nearly a match for the far more advanced and larger iPhone 4 battery. For most users who plug in their device every night anyway, this doesn't become a huge issue. For the power hungry and media intensive users however, the iPhone 4 may be the best option.
Memory Storage Capacity
Although the new iPhone 4 was expected to provide up to 64GB of internal memory, the actual spec came out to be the same as the iPhone 3GS upscale model at 32GB of total internal memory. They also offer a 16GB version much like was previously offered when the 3GS entered the market. By comparison the DROID Incredible offers a only 8GB of internal memory with expansion capability of up to 16 GB via a mircoSD card for a total 24GB of storage. This may not seem like an overly large difference until you consider the fact that you cannot store apps on the 16GB of external memory.
Both phones should be able to bring plenty enough memory for pretty much any and all users requirements. If you are a big fan of downloading a lot of different apps, the iPhone 4 is going to be the best option. If you use your smartphone for other things like music, videos, and photos however, the DROID Incredible may be the best choice for one main reason. You can place all your videos, music, and photos on to separate microSD cards and then swap in and out the cards depending on which medium you want to check out at that point. They really are both great options for varying reasons.
Display
Now is when the two phones begin to separate themselves with some pretty ENORMOUS differences. The DROID Incredible and the iPhone 4 were both pretty evenly matched until now. When Apple stepped up the competition to a new level with a display that brings an amazing 960 x 640 pixel screen resolution and 326 ppi, they rained on DROID's parade. The DROID Incredible has what was a fairly brilliant 800 x 480 pixel screen res, and a slightly larger display (3.7") than the iPhone 4 (3.5"). The larger screen and less pixels will make an obvious picture difference, and when we begin discussing both phones cameras below, it will stick out like a sore thumb too.
In addition to the better pixel ratio's the iPhone 4 also offers a fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating on not only the front screen, but the back of the device as well. The contrast for the device is also significantly better at 800:1.
These are only a few of the comparisons of the iPhone 4 to the DROID Incredible. Hopefully it helped, and if you would like even more info on this phone, just visit our iPhone-DROID site(links below) for more info.

android vs iphone os

In the last couple of years Google has grown into a gigantic company involved in numerous projects, among its success stories are: Android and Chrome OS. If Android is an OS mainly used for smartphones, Chrome is Google's operating system for netbooks. I'm sure that by now most of you have heard or own a smartphone running Android, and are eager to find out how the Chrome netbook will look like.
Chrome OS is mainly a "browser in a box". This means that there is no locally installed piece of software, Chrome OS relaying mostly on the cloud and on Web applications. To make some light into this matter: the cloud is a virtual place where all your information is safely stored without having the need to save it on your hard drive. The plus is that your laptop/netbook becomes more lightweight, while the downside is that without an Internet connection you can't access your information (documents, pieces of software, etc).
The main advantage that Chrome OS has to offer is space: no need to install a piece of software on your laptop, you can access it immediately on Internet. The biggest limitation is that without an Internet connection, Chrome OS can't really be of any help.

In terms of UI, Chrome OS tries to take up minimal screen space, by merging the traditional application with the Web pages into one tab. When it comes to security, things are not that simple. Chrome OS benefits of auto-updating and sandboxes which should keep the malware away. Also, it was said that Chrome netbooks will come with "Trusted Platform Module", which will have a "trusted bootpath" and a "Developer mode which can be activated by an actual switch. Also, being an open source, Chrome OS will benefit from constant updates in terms of security.
On the other hand, Android is the main competitor of iPhone OS and one of the most popular operating systems for mobile devices: smartphones and tablets. The latest version of Android 3.0 integrates numerous functionalities, becoming a multi-purpose platform which aims for both the smartphone and the table market. Even more, it comes with a fresh UI framework compatible with various devices (larger screens and USB keyboards), and brings in multicore processors, plus accelerated 2D & 3D graphics.
With a large community of developers who write apps (more than 200,000), Android succeeds to extend the functionalities of the devices and to add extra features. Of course all the devices that Android runs on need to be certified by Google and to follow the "Compatibility Definition Document" (CDD).
The Android versions released so far are in chronological order: Éclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb (a tablet OS) and Ice Cream Sandwich (a merge between Gingerbread and Honeycomb) which will be released in Q4 of 2011.
Although Google was accused by Microsoft, more exactly by Steve Ballmer of "not being able to make up its mind" having two OS, Google answered in return that the two operating systems (Android and Chrome OS) serve distinct markets: the mobile and the personal computing. Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google, added that Android and Chrome "will likely converge over time", but for the time being this is not Google's goal. Until the two markets will merge why not offer consumers the best out of the two worlds?

android x vs iphone

Motorola has recently released a new phone called the Droid X (Extreme). It has recently received a lot of hype, especially for the fact that it allows you run multiple apps at once. But is this cell phone superior to the iPhone 3G, which has been one of the best selling smart phones since its release in '09? Let's find out.
Let's begin by examining the Droid X. It runs on Android 2.1 OS with latest MotoBlur extensions and will soon be updated to Android 2.2. Motorola Droid X has 1 GHz TI-OMAP 3630 processor which allows it to run multiple applications at the same time while performing all tasks twice as fast as its competitors. It also comes standard with 512Mb RAM and 8GB of memory and you can add up to 32GB of additional memory through the SD card slot (which is also the most out of any other phone). It also comes with one of the largest touch screens: 4.3" inches 854 X 480 resolution. This phone also has a very comfortable keyboard, which lets you type without lifting your fingers. It is also equipped with an 8MP camera which is better than anything that other phones have.

Now let's take a look at the iPhone 3G. It runs on the Apple's iOS, which has more apps for it at this point than the Android. It has the ARM Cortex A8 600 MHz processor which is very fast, although not quite as fast as the Droid's. It has a 3.15MP camera and, even though it's smaller than the Droid's, it has a better flash and the quality is really good. It also has a 3.5 inch TFT touch screen with 16 million colors and a 320 x 480 resolution, which is pretty nice.
Now let's look at some similarities. They both have Bluetooth connectivity. They are equipped with Wi-Fi which allows you to connect to the internet. Their browsers let you easily go on Facebook, Twitter and other websites. Both phones have no physical keyboard, but the on-screen keyboard that they have is pretty comfortable.
So which phone is better? Well, at this point, if I had the iPhone already, I would not trade the iPhone 3G for the Droid X because it is still pretty new and it has more apps than the Droid. However, if I was buying a new phone, I would definitely get the Droid X instead of the iPhone 3G because it has superior hardware and because it'll have as many, if not more, apps for it as the iPhone 3G in a short time. So in a battle of the Motorola Droid X vs. Apple iPhone 3G, I would say the Droid X takes home the trophy.

Get whichever one you like best.

nexus one vs iphone

Google these days is trying to enter in all markets. On the Android platform, Nexus One is their next product in the market. It appears that Nexus One has most of the features as are in the iPhone and is seen as the strongest competitor of the iPhone. The iPhone however, an Apple product, has already established its roots in the market. It is currently the favorite mobile phone for many. In this article I will compare certain features of both the phones.
Storage: iPhone comes in three different sizes i.e. 8GB, 16GB and 32GB. iPhone does not support external memory cards and have inbuilt memory only. Nexus one comes up with 4 GB memory card and support up to 32 GB. The internal disk is faster than external memory cards. iPhone have an edge here over nexus One.
Battery life: Google has worked hard for battery and that is the reason Nexus one has 7 hours of talk time where iPhone hardly provides 5 hrs of talk time. Nexus also give 250 hours of standby time.
Camera: Nexus one has 5 Megapixel camera which can be a reason for you to leave your digital camera at home. iPhone has 3.0 Megapixel camera. Both the phones support video recording and editing.
Applications: iPhone certainly has edge here as iPhone application market is very big. There are over one million iPhone applications. The android market is new as compared to iPhone and it has around 20,000 applications. Both the markets are growing and there are ample of applications for both the mobile phones.

Price: Apple iPhone costs $199 with contract and $599 without contract. Price of Nexus is $179 with contract and $529 without contract.
Operating system: iPhone has iPhone OS 3.1.2 and Nexus has Android 2.1 operating system. Both operating systems almost have same features and performance.
Features: iPhone has very serious constraint which is it does not support multitasking. Nexus support multitasking and you can run several applications simultaneously.
Weighing both the phones on multiple parameters one can say that Nexus one has more features than iPhone. In terms of dimensions and look, Nexus one is smaller in size and it is more stylish. The best thing is that Nexus one is cheap and it has brand name of Google. It is for sure that the phone will get the Google benefit and will win number of hearts. Still we cannot say iPhone will not be able to compete as it already has number of customers and there is pool of people who like apple's products. Apple will certainly try its best to compete in the market and provide various new features in the iPhone. Nexus one is still with beta testers and only time will tell how well it perform.

android vs iphone comparison

Apple iPhone 4G is currently the hottest topic in town. Inheriting the success of its previous generations, iPhone 4G hits the market with its newly developed operating system - Apple iOS4. Together with Apple A4 1GHz (which is the same CPU that iPad shares) it allows the phone to run nonstop for over 10 hours or even in sleep mood for over a month. Looking as stylish as always, iPhone 4G again features Apple's minimal design, appearing to be so slim & chic. Its 3.5 inch display supports Retina Multi-touch - another new gadget offered by Apple to facilitate daily use. It also comes with a resolution of 640 x 960 pixels and such resolution display will definitely beat all other smart phones down.
HTC would definitely like to beat Apple iPhone 4G with its latest, strongest smartphone HTC EVO 4G. The phone comes with a 4.3 inch screen which is bigger than the iPhones series; yet its TFT capacitive Mulit-touch screen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels only. The phone also supports no internal storage; an 8GB memory card is included though. What makes HTC EVO 4G standing out the most may be its 1.3MP front camera which other smart phones are lacking of. If you need a smartphone with a fair camera, let HTC EVO 4G be your choice.

Motorola Droid was promoted as an "iPhone alternative" in 2009 year end but can its successor Droid X beat iPhone 4G in 2010? Droid X composes of the best hardware currently available. iPhone 4G can support a limited number of multi-tasks, but Droid X can settle a lot more when it comes to multi-tasking. It's the Texas Instruments OMAP 3630 1GHz CPU that allows it to run twice faster than the other smart phones, so that web pages can be loaded in less than 5 seconds. Though Droid X has only 8GB of internal storage, it supports 32GB Micro SD card, which together make a massive storage capacity of 40GB. Powered by Android 2.1 Eclair with the MotoBLUR UI and Swype and will soon get an update to Android 2.2 Froyo. Droid X is surely the ultimate Android phone.
It's no doubt that smart phones are getting increasingly popular. Market growth is remarkable which attracts new players like Samsung to take part in. The Samsung Galaxy S is the flagship Samsung Android device. Supported by Samsung-Intrinsity S5PC110 1GHz CPU, it also has 512MB RAM, 8GB/16GB internal storage plus an additional of 2GB memory card. Apart from these, it supports Bluetooth 3.0 - the most advanced among all other. It has an attractive 4.0 inch AMOLED capacitive touch screen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. Regardless of its big screen, it weight only 119g, which is really light. Galaxy S will definitely attracts followers, a lot of followers.

iphone versus android

The days of the standard mobile phones were numbered when Apple first released their own version of the cellular. Though the competitors were introducing something new or the other every year, the entire concept of mobile phones were changed with the advent of the iPhone 2.2.1 that boasted of iTunes. However there was another giant who was waiting behind the wings. It was not long before the search engine giant, Google, also came out with their own cellular phones nicknamed Android.
A huge battle started amongst these 2 giants and 2 distinct groups of users emerged in the world with one siding with Apple and the other with Google. There was no doubt that the Android had features that were far better than that of the iPhone 2.2.1. However, the leadership of the search engine giant was not going to last long with Steve Jobs and his innovative men working hard to release a new version of their mobile phone. It was not long before the iPhone 3.0 was released and this helped push back the advantage to the Apple camp.
Those who are comparing the iPhone vs Andriod will find the following points interesting. These points go to show why the latest version of mobile phones manufactured by Apple is far better than those manufactured by Google. Here are the features that are only found in the iPhone.

• Phone wide search
• Calendar search
• VoIP (Voice over the Internet Protocol) (available to applications)
• Video recording facilities (coming in cupcake)
There is no need for the loyal fans of Google to get upset with the above statistics. There still are various features which are only available with the Android. A list of these features is provided below.
• Peer to Peer Bluetooth connectivity
• Built in notepad
• Parental Controls
• Accessory application support
• Multiple notifications
• Stereo Bluetooth A2DP audio
As things stand now, both these giants are more or less at par with each other but with both of them fighting hard to have the upper hand and rule the mobile world, things are only going to get better for the end user. It is still too early to say which one of these 2 models is better. The fact remains that both these manufacturers have their own loyal base who will not touch the phone of the opposition. There are a few points in with both these phones are not adequate or rely on 3rd party applications and they are as follows:
• Application notifications
• 3G tethering
Which one of them is better, the iPhone or the Android?
