Apple and Verizon recently announced the launch of the much awaited iPhone for the Verizon network. This new iPhone, whilst looking exactly the same as the iPhone 4 has had a couple of minor changes made to it. What do these changes mean for those people wanting to purchase accessories for their new Verizon iPhone, and in particular for those people wishing to move from the AT&T network to Verizon?

Differences Between the iPhone 4 and the New iPhone for the Verizon Network

First, let us look at the changes that Apple have made to the Verizon iPhone. According to a number of blogs and websites the new iPhone is exactly the same as the iPhone 4 except for a minor repositioning of the external antenna and the slight relocation of the Mute and On/Off buttons. The antenna changes have resulted in the repositioning of the gaps between the external antennas (a new gap has appeared just above the Mute button) and the volume buttons, whilst still on the left hand side, have been moved ever so slightly down the phone (presumably to accommodate the antenna change).

Can You Use iPhone 4 Cases on the Verizon iPhone?

Most likely not is the simple answer. Whilst the repositioning of the external antenna will probably have minimal impact the relocation of the Mute and On/Off buttons will. Most of the cases being designed and manufactured at the moment are precision made and therefore have been designed to exactly fit the external features of the iPhone 4.

The slight change in the positioning of the external buttons will mean that cases designed for the iPhone 4 will not fit the new iPhone designed for the Verizon network. In particular iPhone 4 cases that have separate holes for the Mute and On/Off buttons will certainly not fit the Verizon iPhone.

iPhone 4 cases that have a full opening to accommodate the Mute and On/Off buttons may fit the new iPhone however, do not be surprised if the case does not fit perfectly. Owners of leather pouches and flip-cases looking to purchase the Verizon iPhone should be unaffected.

When Will the New Cases be Available?

A number of iPhone case suppliers have announced that they will be modifying their iPhone 4 case designs to take into account the subtle changes. These cases will be available from 11 February 2011 to coincide with the release of the much anticipated Verizon iPhone.

After months of speculation Apple have finally unveiled their new iPad 3, the third tablet device developed by the company. One of the attractions of this new unit is the excellent A5X processor but it seems that this impressive chip may not be used on the iPhone 5 as many of us expected.

The new A5X chip was announced on the 7th March 2012 with claims that it is four times faster at graphic processing than the quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 chip. There are claims however that this new chip is not ideal for smartphone use and is therefore unlikely to be used in the new iPhone 5. Smartphone consumers tend to place more value on the battery performance of a device rather than its graphics capabilities. For this reason Apple are likely to opt for a more power efficient alternative for use in their new smartphone. The excellent graphics processing available on the A5X is not required on the new iPhone because the pixel density is lower on the larger screened iPad devices and therefore extra processing is required in order to maintain an excellent quality of image. It is more likely that Apple will chose to utilise a more efficient 28nm chip design rather than the 40nm variety that is used on the current iPhone 4S.

Whatever chipset is used in the new iPhone 5 there is no doubt that the model will become one of the smartphone successes of 2012. There is no doubt that battery life on this new model will be improved after the well documented problems that the iPhone 4S has encountered in this area. The new processor will help by placing less demand on the battery capacity that is available. This new mobile device is likely to feature NFC technology for the first time. This new short range wireless technology will enable consumers to pay for products with the device by storing debit card information on the phone. NFC also has a number of other uses including the easy transfer of media and interaction with NFC tags to automatically alter the settings on the phone. It looks likely that Apple will continue with the use of a glass body on this new phone but we can expect a brand new design along with a much slimmer profile thanks to the use of the new Gorilla Glass 2 which is thinner than the first generation of the material.

Only time will tell whether Apple will chose to use the new A5X chip in the iPhone 5 but it does seem likely that the developers will explore the use of an alternative chip which offers more in the way of power efficiency. When this model is launched later in 2012 we can expect to see a striking new design along with some excellent features such as NFC.

Android Honeycomb is the current Google Android OS. It is designed only for tablets and is therefore optimized with even more features and benefits than you would normally find on a regular smartphone running on Froyo or Gingerbread.

The Honeycomb has received a dramatic improvement compared to Gingerbread in several aspects. One of the most obvious examples is enhanced applications in Honeycomb. Email. The email apps (both Gmail and everything else) use a two-pane system. So it makes perusing your inbox and various folders much easier. Browser. The biggest enhancement is tabbed browsing. You don't need to press a menu button within the browser to see all of the open windows. They're just presented like the Chrome browser on your computer, with the Action Bar showing off multiple tabs that you can switch to rather easily.

Android Market. "My apps" section shows a listing of all apps you've downloaded, updated and/or installed. You can dictate whether the apps will have updates automatically installed, and you can open each individual app directly from this section. This listing of My Apps also notices if any updates are available, keeps me apprised of download/install progress, and is easy to scroll through.
Google Talk. The integration of native video chat and Google Talk app makes it more convenient and accessible for anyone to use it. Even if you have a tablet and your business partner doesn't, just have them sign on to Google Talk on their computer and you're all set for a good video chat.
YouTube. The YouTube app was built with Renderscript, and it's easy to tell because of the extra 3D renderings done up here. The app is set up like a grid with several rows and columns, but when you scroll left or right this grid curves with the scrolling, acting as if it's on a carousel.

So has anyone tried any of these phones

If not these or any other, how do feel about them?
I asked a guy in the market and he said that the sets were great but people couldnt understand the complex setup and hence it is branded as a failure here.
